SO COZY and great value! The hotel itself is in a charming old building with a lovely garden and pool area. The main house has porches with lots of comfy seating for your morning coffee or nightcap. There is a fireplace inside in the lounge. The rooms have everything you'd expect and need, and the decor is charming. The ownder puts out a really nice breakfast spread and offers made to order cooked items as well. He's very easy going and is more than happy to make suggestions on what to see and do and where to eat. Though, contact him in advance of your trip. Dinner reservations are strongly reccommended. It is situated only a fe wminutes walk to Heugenot Street (main strip) with all the restaurants and shopping.

The details: The bathrooms have stand up showers and tubs with hair dryers and all the toilettries you may need. There are heated floors in the bathroom and sleeping area (!!), as well as an air conditioning/heating unit. The room is spacious with lots of storage and the beds are comfy. Only drawbacks are the rooms have no TV and they have a slight ant problem. Mostly found them in the bathroom and in the main house - likely due to the hmidity and the gardens outside. Tiny ants, yes.. but I even found some in the home made granola at the breakfast bar. Also, the shops close up tight right at 5:00 and the restaurants don't go into dinner service until around 7:00 (don't forget your reservation).

There is a good mix of high end art gallery type shops, to souvenier shops - nothing junky here and prices are a bit lower than capetown. Lots of yummy bakeries, coffee and chocolate shops. We had dinner at Taki's Pub on the first night (have the Mousakka) and at Dutch East (Fusion cuisine) on our second night. Great mid-priced options, though there are some more upscale options as well.

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms are similar. Nice small B&B, very quiet - great place to spend a few nig...

I'm very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us, but I'm sorry about the ant problem.

At this time of year there are always more ants around as they try to find somewhere dry when it has been raining. Every year it is an ongoing issue and for the most part we manage to keep them away. But having said this, there is no excuse for finding ants on the buffet and I will redouble my efforts to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Thank you for the review and I hope to see you again in the future.

Bill

We really appreciated the hospitality of the host.
The rooms are fantasticly luxurious (there are no TV's in the rooms, but that doesn't even matter)
The included breakfast was more like a large brunch with better food than we had in the majority of 4-star hotels around the Cape.
We had dreary weather, but the stay completely made up for it.
This was great value for money while being classy - Will definitely do it again.

We stayed only one night at Les Chambres in early January 2012. We booked the Guest House through the local tourist infomation centre at the last minute. The luxurious, large and well-appointed room and a very enjoayble breakfast for 2 was 1,000 Rand, which we believe represented excellent value for money. The bathroom is large with a separate bath and shower and good quality toiletries. The 9 metre swimming pool, the television lounge and the library nook were all greatly appreciated. As the Guest house has only four beautifully appointed rooms it's almost like you have the whole place to itself. The owner is a lovely English gentleman and you'll soon meet his dog and two cats so if you enjoy the company of animals you'll be very happy. The staff are all friendly and will help in any way they can. You are only one block from the best restaurants in Franshhoek so everything is very convenient yet the garden is a beautiful, quiet oasis. We would return in a heartbeat and can only thoroughly recommend this guest house.

Room Tip: With only four rooms they are all excellent

Our spacious room was immaculate & well appointed. The 4 rooms are in an area separate to the main house which we liked as it felt more private.
The pool area is in the secluded gardens,a lovely tranquil place to sit and relax.
The very ample breakfast with lots of choice is taken either inside or outside in a very nice patio area.
Internet access is available.
Les Chambres is situated just a short walk from the main street in Franschhoek with all its excellent shops and restaurants.
Les Chambres is a lovely guest house to stay in and we would definitely stay there again.

A wonderful, relaxed guest house set back two blocks from the main street and within easy walking distance of all attractions. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable with every need catered for. The garden is delightful with a pool in which to cool off after a hard day's walking or wine tasting. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely and the hosts always ready with helpful local information. Felt very at home, especially with the friendly cat and dog. Strongly recommend the experience!
