“Great way to experience the winelands”
Reviewed 5 February 2009

We were really looking forwards to this outing and were not dissappointed. The outing is an interesting ride through varied terrain of hillside, woodland, tracks and vinyards and allows tyou to experience some of the beatiful countryside close up. There are great view of the valley along tmost of the way.

This is a realy fun way to go wine tasting, all the better because of exceptional horses. We were able to take the ride at our own pace and we can't recall ever having such responsive and well behaved horses on a holiday outing of this kind. Mine was apparently still actively participating in endurance trials while my wife's had recent retired from competition.

Great fun, do it.

“Great way to go wine tasting”
Reviewed 26 March 2008

Having not ridden for over 30 years and with a partner who had never ridden in his life we spent a fantastic half day tasting wine on horseback!
The horses were really well behaved and as my partner was a complete novice the whole experience was just at walking pace and he absolutely loved it.
Hard hats are supplied, you need to wear long trousers and some flat shoes.
No training is given just up you get and off you go! The horses just follow one another and you ride off up the mountain, through forests, and along dusty tracks, up and down hills, along roads, and through the vineyards. You ride for about 90 minutes, then stop at one winery, tie the horses up under the tress, have about 45 minutes of wine tasting, then back in the saddle for another half hour or so, then another wine tasting, then back in the sadle for a further 30 minutes to return to the stables - the whole trip takes about 4 hours.
When we went there was just 4 of us so we got quite friendly with our fellow riders (apparently can be in a group of anything of 2-8), the two wineries were friendly and were expecting us and a very enjoyable time was had by all.
This was a great way to go wine tasting as you get to see some of the countryside and do it all at a lesiurely pace, highly recommended.

“Wine tour on horseback!”
Reviewed 9 April 2007

This is a fun way to get outdoors, do a bit fo wine tasting and ride horses!

For a modest fee of about £25 per person, we got to ride horses while stopping at 2 vineyards for a bit of wine tasting. The horses were really well-behaved and they know the trail by heart. Our guide, Pieter, allowed us to gallop and trot when we got to appropriate areas. Even for very beginners to more experienced riders, this is a fun thing to do with friends...or make new friends with the other riders in your group.

I recommend wearing jeans and trainers, a hat and sunblock. If you don't want too much sun, bring along a light-weight long sleeve shirt to cover up as you are rarely in the shade. Don't forget your camera!
