I was shocked to see that La Motte is not listed as one of the Franschhoek attractions on the Trip Advisor website - therefore my review:

One of our favourite things to do (again and again!) is to go for a wine tasting at La Motte wine estate just outside Franschhoek. This estate is renowned for their immaculate wines and the beauty of the surroundings are astounding. The experience are made perfect by the VERY knowledgeable and friendly staff who welcomes you and do the tasting - they always have information at hand and interesting facts about the area and type of wines. La Motte also went the extra mile by developing wine sorbets in conjunction with Marcels Frozen Yoghurt. These are offered as part of the wine tasting and helps you pick up on the specific flavours and unique characters of each wine. My favourite wines comes from their Ultra Premium Collection. Firstly the La Motte Pierneef Sauvignon Blanc (Organically Grown) never fails to impress. It seem to have impress a few other people as well judged by its accolade of awards. It won a gold medal, Michael Angelo and was the Trophy Winner for the Best Organic wine! The 2005 La Motte Pierneef Shiraz Viognier, my favourite red, does not stand back in this regard. It won 4 gold medals: International Wine & Spiritus competition (and also got the trophy winner for the best South African red wine at this competition), Mundus Vini Gold, Michael Angelo 2007 Gold and Concour Mondial Bruxelles Gold. Nobody should miss the opportunity to taste these world class wines!

For further information on their monthly concerts in the old cellar and their disa collection (the largest privately owned collection in South-Africa!) please visit their website.
