“Tasting Experience”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

This was one of the best tasting meals I have had; the blends of different tastes were a pleasure. Toughly recommend the tasting menu and paired wines. Great atmosphere, service, location and price. A real gem.

“Deeeeeeliscious a definite visit if in Franschhoek”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

Have to say one of the best meals I have ever had and I have been to a few restaurants. I had the scallop/caprese starter thinking that I would probably get a few tiny scallops on my plate, but instead I got 4 large scallops with the most divine caprese salad underneath each scallop. Each tiny tomato had been skinned and the motzerello cheese was carefully rolled in shavings of basil. Being rather full I opted for the prawn starter as a main meal, yet once again not to be disappointed. 4 large prawns, 2 grilled served on a delish lemongrass creamy sauce and 2 tempura prawns delicately done served on black squid ink rice, neatly presented in squares. The service was tip top and eager and the decor was clean and welcoming. The fun of watching the chefs hard at work through the cinema shaped glass screen separating our dining area from the one room where we were dining was like watching a movie. The wine list is also sublime, try the Glenwood Semillion was fabulous.

“Sustainable Excellence”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

A year and a half has passed since our last visit ...let give it another try! Happy we did!
We shared the BIG Combi for starter then followed by Duck for Eva and Springbok Shank and Loin for me.Excellent taste and preparation .Ended off with one mixed dessert plate. All dishes was cooked to perfection and absolutley superb.Nicely presented on the plate and servered by our alert waitress. A full gourmet treat at an affordable price. Missed that little Chef meeting at the table after meal where we could express our compliments. However we waved to him trough ktchen glasswindow .Job well done!

“Pleasantly surprised”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

The host at Realou suggested we visit Le Bon Vivant and were we surprised! Our waiter was excellent and very attentive. His knowledge of the menu and wines are exceptional. The interior is tastefully decorated and the ability to see the chef and his team in the kitchen was indeed a bonus. We were not planning on having starters, but We were glad we did. The food is beautifully created with amazing flavour combinations. The idea in having a menu item with a tasting plate of various starters is very clever. The mains was incredible. If for instance you order the pork, you not only get a cutlet, you also get some crackling and pork belly. And need I say it is ridiculous how tasteful and beautiful it is! Dessert once again had us reaching for the tasting plate option as well as one of the best souffles I ever had! Well done Chef Pierre and your team. Can't wait to be back!
