Fish on the Rocks offers good value for your money. The portions are big, fish is great but the chips were the English style (big fat and soft). We prefer our chips the french fry style. Service is fast (it was not busy when we were there).
There are 2 sides to the location. It has fantastic views but it is set in the factory part of the harbour. You get the feeling that it is not so safe there. Even the owner was once shot several times. We just picked up our orders and drove around to the other side of Hout Bay to eat there.
By the Fish on the Rocks there is some history. It is next to the West fort. This was first built by the Dutch VOC to protect the harbour entrance. Across the bay there is the East fort also 1st built by the VOC.
