“Nothing Exciting”
Reviewed 2 June 2011

Let me first say that this restaurant in Hout Bay has nothing to do with Da Luigi in Camps Bay as the two are sometimes mistaken.

Trattoria Luigi has a nice feel to it and seems popular with families. The food however is standard Italian fare - nothing to get excited about. So don't go out of your way. Staff are friendly and welcoming but the service was erratic to say the least - they simply did not have enough staff to cater for the number of people. A long wait for the main but a gap of about 4 minutes in arrival times.

“Excellent Italian food”
Reviewed 8 May 2011

We were a large group (7 adults + 1 baby) who went to Trattoria Luigi for an early Sunday lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was quick and friendly and the food was excellent. I had a delicious salmon pasta and my friend raved about their Melanzane Parmigiana. Between the 7 of us we ordered pasta, pizza and salad and everyone was very happy with their food. My husband had Fusilli de la Sposa which he said was very good, but his portion of pasta was considerably smaller than mine (and he didn't have breakfast), so he had a few slices of pizza too to fill him up.

The restaurant had a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere - something I always enjoy. The owner/manager also checked in during our lunch to make sure everyone was happy.

The only negative point aspect to our visit was that the restaurant only has two separate toilets and no baby changing facilities.
