Been to Cheyne's twice in July 2014. Service, interior and atmosphere is good. The food was excellent and we loved the combinations of flavours. The calamari and deep fried milk were my favourites. The wine list could be updated though. Expect to pay around R250 per person.

The staff was great, the ambiance was great. The food looked good and had lots of flavour. I had four dishes and two of them had way too much salt in them. It just completely over powered everything. Especially the "Lemon, Edemame, Crisp Tiger Prawn Risotto, Nam Jim splash" - had to drink a couple of glasses of water. The "Tokyo Beef Slider, air dried wagyu, Szechuan and king oyster cream" was excellent.

I can only compare this to the Pot Luk club in Cape Town, except Cheyne's is local to us. The food is just so special and all TREAT, mind blowing where this chef gets inspiration from. The service was exceptional too...AND it doesn't blow the budget

Don't let the simplicity and unassuming appearance of this little gem side track you. The Magician in the kitchen uses no illusions. Call and book ahead - ask for the menu dégustation to experience what I can only call perfection on a plate.

The menu is diverse and delicious, the flavours are just superb and the ambiance was lovely. I struggled to decide what to chose from the great range of options on the menu and the risotto is by far the most tasty and delicious thing I have ever tasted in any country I have lived or visited. The desert with peanut butter ice cream was definitely the most delicious desert I have eaten in South Africa.
