“Italian down south”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

A sweet little slice of pizza on the southern tip of the african map. Friendly staff with a pure italian to great you at the top of the stairs. Authentic memorabilia and history. A rich italian feel and with a great selection of traditional pasta, pizza and more. This is a place where I watched a young woman, sitting with a glass of white wine and bottled still water, mysteriously writing notes in her diary and sitting in her own world. Taking a moment and enjoying it like a proper italian cafe. Hout bays little home of wonder.

“great in every respect”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

Booked here for Mothers Day Lunch. It was packed but everything was up to expectation. Food was great and was very timeous, service and attentiveness of the waiter and management above reproach. Will be back.

“first visit and very disappointed”
Reviewed 19 April 2014

i went to posticino a couple of weeks ago and will never go back again. the location is beautiful and that was the only good part of being there. it was a late sunday afternoon and the place was not very busy at all. a lot of staff standing around and still took 15 minutes to get a drink. we ordered a garlic bread which was tasteless and a Napoletana pasta that was more like cheap tomato sauce on over-cooked pasta. my friend ordered a cream based pasta that was watery and bland and the pasta was also overcooked. the owner came to our table to see how things were with a sleeveless shirt, hairy armpits, and shorts leaning over the table and the food. I was absolutely disgusted by his actions and the food and will never go back.

“Nice location, good pizzas, good prices”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

While not the best pizza place in Hout Bay, this recent addition clearly stepped ahead of the others very quickly. The pizza's are good, the prices are good too (including for wine), and the location, with a view of the mountains behind Hout Bay, is great - especially on a warm evening when you can have a spot on the deck. Inside is decorated nicely - very quaint, very "Italian", with murals of Hout Bay, etc.
Service is good, although when the place is full some patience is required - which, with the good vibe, isn't bad.
If there's one thing I didn't like is that the mineral water is imported Italian water. I can live with, for example, imported Italian wine (not that they have any) - different grapes, winemakers, terroirs, styles, but water? The local water tastes just as watery, and quenches thirst just as well, so importing bottled water from overseas seems like a serious ungreen thing to do.
Tap water is provided as an alternative - however - but maybe if everybody could indicate that carting water around the world is not a good idea, maybe they'll go local!
