Lovely Tradition 4 hour Sunday Buffet Lunch
We were invited to "not my birthday" lunch and we were a party of 8. Quentin welcomed and seated us and came around often during the course of our stay to make sure that we were comfortable. There was a lunch buffet on offer. For starters, the home baked bread was divine, worth breaking the low carb diet by treating in wheat. The mussels and salmon pate was a great way to start our meal. For mains, the roast chicken with stuffing, roast beef and full spread of veggies was excellent. The bread pudding for dessert was ok. All in all a great time was had by all, the food, the setting, the vino and the
Company was perfect. Highly recommended.

Well it’s now over a week since my visit/ lunch at Quentin’s Restaurant and I have time to think about my experience and be constructive.

There is no question Quentin has missed his calling he should have been an interior decorator the restaurant looks great, the vibe was good it will probably be better if the restaurant is full.

The food, well the menu is limited the presentation is good, taste, I guess at the end of the day it depends on one’s pallet, personally I thought it was average.

The price totally out of bounds, if you are paying with Pounds it will probably ok, if you are a local resident stay away or go to the Bank & secure a second bond before you go for a meal at Dentins.

From the moment the friendly security guard welcomes you to the private parking lot at Quentins you are made to feel welcome. I took my mom for dinner at Quentins on the suggestion of some Houtbay-local friends of mine, and we were pleasantly surprised that the 'village' had such a gem hidden far from the madding crowds of the city. This place feels like it would be at home on Kloof street, but still retains a country kitchen feeling. Quentin himself coming out of the kitchen to chat was the cherry on top. Menu is very interesting and varied, with a lot of traditional South African flavour such as the Bobotie and springbok. Both the fish soup and Springbok were delicious and unusual. A very diverse and delicious looking wine list, although we brought our own. (R50 corkage) I think this is a great spot for any tourists looking for good quality South African fare, not the touristy over cooked meat and pap that is on offer at other 'African restaurants'.

We had the following:
Duck terrine and Crayfish Bisque as starters
Wild Boar and Crusted Kingklip as mains

Not keen to go further...
Culinary highlights were the bread and the duck terrine,
decide for your selves but not our best experience.

Wonderful food, beautiful decor and outstanding service. We ate in the cellar which was quiet and private. The steaks are highly recommended.
