“Fantastic Location”
Reviewed 8 April 2013

Stayed here with my wife for 2 nights on a break in Cape Town.

Calamari is my favourite food and this is their speciality food. Not haute cuisine but really good value food in a fun and vibrant atmosphere.

Hotel location is excellent on the beginning of Chapmans Peak Drive and pool deck is a hidden and quite gem.

This is a very good hotel in a great location and good value. The reasons I haven't given it 5 stars is because the decor and furnishing is a little tired, but it is spotlessly clean. Also one morning they ran out of fruit juice for breakfast, then the next morning they ran out of yoghurt. Otherwise I cannot fault the place and we very much enjoyed our stay.

The rooms are terrific and everyone who stays within 10 miles of this place comes to eat here!! The food is amazing, we never bothered eating anywhere else for five nights. Chapman's Peak Drive is literally up the hill from where you are staying. Rates up there with one of the most scenic drives on the planet!

Room Tip: Choose the new section overlooking the beach if you have a choice...

we booked 2 rooms with connecting doors and stayed for 2 nights. Very clean room, tons of space and a great view on the bay. It was michael bublé week - that CD was running for break fast and dinner - luckily I'm a fan ;-) Pool deck is fantastic. Food was great and service at a good level.

We recently stayed at Chapmans Peak hotel for our honey moon in late December 2012. We wanted a different hotel, not one of these big commercial ones that are crowded and noisy...this was just perfect. We stayed in the penthouse suite. As we live in the UK i was corresponding with the hotel staff via email before we arrived, they were very professional and responded to my emails within minutes. John was particularly helpful. The staff were really friendly from the breakfast staff, to the restaurant staff in the evening, reception staff and general hotel staff were all very obliging and polite. We even asked the hotel to keep our wedding cake in their kitchen fridge and they happily kept it very safe. The food at the hotel restaurant was amazing! The best seafood i have had in South Africa, just thinking about the prawns and calamari makes my mouth water! The restaurnt breakfats was included in our price and was also very good. The hotel is situated in Hout bay and has beautiful views of the beach and the bay, we used to enjoy just sitting out on our patio just taking in the sights and sounds. Very relaxing and very nice and quiet during the busiest time of the year in Cape Town as Clifton and other beaches are packed with people and become uncomfortable. If you want a small boutique hotel with a personal touch in a quiet town then choose this hotel. I would definitely go back the next time i am in Cape Town.

Room Tip: choose a room with a sea view and definitely try the calamari and prawns in the hotel restaurant.

Beautiful hotel, we enjoyed a short visit as part of our honeymoon. We enjoyed the ocean view room, quite luxurious! Delicious meals in the dining room, and a wonderful jog up and down Chapman's Peak road overlooking Hout Bay. Stunning. Very friendly staff. We would definitely stay here if we get a chance to return some day. :)

The outdoor swimming pool is more like a large tub tucked in a dark corner of a deck on the back of the building and the fitness room is tiny, so don't bother with those, but do enjoy the beautiful outdoors instead!

We booked at the last minute in the winter season, so no particular deals obtained on the rooms (expensive), but we had a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Try and get a ocean view at least one of your nights.

5 Star accommodation and service at 3 star prices. The sea view rooms are spacious, the linen crispy clean and service to match. Sundowner drinks on the elevated pool deck a must. The restaurant stocks excellent local wines.

Room Tip: Ask to be upgraded to the sea view rooms.
