“Adorable Bungalow”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

This place took us in after the B&B we had reserved literally left us out in the cold. Even though we did not have a reservation, the security guard called staff after hours to come back to check us in. They gave us an adorable bungalow, two circular rooms connected by an entryway and bathroom, and let us pay the following morning. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, and there was free wifi in the lobby.

Thank you to the staff for being as hospitable as you were. The Swartberg team are efficient, helpful and genuinely sincere whilst doing their job. We were accommodated for dinner and drinks on short notice, and were so delighted with the service that we went back on a second night. I happily recommend the Hotel and its staff!

Two of us had lunch recently. The venue has a good ambience and overlooks the main street. It is a pleasant spot. Whilst the food and prices were both reasonable, the service was extremely slow. It took us over and hour to have one drink and a light single course meal. If you are happy to waste time, it is no problem. If you are passing through and want a short refresher stop, before moving on to your final destination, this coffee shop is not for you.

We visited to Prins Albert A couple of years ago and lstayed at the same hotel, except that this ain't the same hotel. The establishment has gone dow the drain that is an understatement.u. The staff on reception and in the restaurant and coffee shop were unhelpful, and friendly, service was slow. There is nothing to recommend this hotel for.

Apart from the fact that the stairs to the first floor are quite dangerous the rooms are extremely small, the furniture squeezed in. It was impossible to close the bathroom door and a shower over bath is not convenient. Why don’t they have some rooms with showers and some with bath??? A communal coffee/tea area is not what guests are looking for.
The worst part was dining at the restaurant. All three of us ordered a pasta dish and because the food was not at the table after 40 minutes I complained. The manageress – owner? – did not apologize but explained that all meals are freshly prepared. Well . . . as far as I know the cooking time for pasta is approximately 8 minutes and not 40! The food was nothing special – R 65.00 for a pasta dish very pricy – and the waitress was quite unfriendly. The best part was the breakfast with home baked bread, croissants and Italian cold meats. The coffee was divine!
In total I would not recommend this hotel.

The review dated July 6, 2013 begs the question, Is the reviewer on the same planet.? We have just spent 3 days at the Hotel and enjoyed every minute. Our room was most comfortable and well appointed with a luxury en suite bathroom. Our meals were excellent and attractively presented. The level of service was good and the assistance from reception both in making the reservation and during our stay was outstanding. This "ship" is certainly not sinking. We will be back next year.
