Beautiful old estate with comfortable rooms. We had a hearty dinner next to the fire in the dining room. The night we were there it was very quiet but service was friendly and attentive. The modest-sized room was quite chilly as the front door was propped open until late. Next morning we had a big breakfast on the deck by the pool, then took the golf cart exploring the vineyards. No one was around to give us pointers so we used the dogs as guides. Unusual place to stay, recommend if you are looking for real ambiance on a working wine estate.

It's an old, lovely guesthouse out of town in the middle of a wine area. The rooms are nicely oldfashioned, clean kept. The estate wine, specially one white wine we tested was great, the dinner was good homemade cooking. We had a splendidly stay.

we stayed at Excelsior Manor in March 2014...what an amazing place. One of the most peaceful locations imaginable. Walks in the vineyards with the owners' dogs was great fun we really felt at home. Our room was large and comfortable with its own verandah space. We were very well looked after and enjoyed sampling the estates wines with our evening meal. Breakfast was served outside on the terrace by the large, clean swimming pool. Excellent selection of cold buffet and hot dishes cooked to order. Don't miss out on this one...you will love it

Room Tip: For complete peace choose a room away from the dining and ounge areas..in case the other guests are...

We stayed at Excelsior on the last day of our Easter holiday. The guest house is beautiful and the staff is incredibly friendly. We booked very last minute and asked the owner Carin if she would cook her famous bobotie for us for dinner. Although she was not at the guest house in the evening she prepared the bobotie for us, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
The beds are great and the linen is luxurious. Small but very adequate bathroom, with gown, slippers and towel heaters. The room has tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits, a night cap and even easter eggs! The room does not have a TV but after drinking the nice Excelsior wine at dinner, we did not miss the TV at all.
We went to the wine tasting room and made our own wine using their wine blending facility. Really cool!

The service was excellent. We stayed in the Country Cousin room and the only unfortunate downfall was the shower which was not working properly - which is quite a big thing in a room that only has one shower and no bath.

Our first visit was so good that we returned later in our trip. The accommodation was first class, very comfortable. The food (breakfast and the optional dinner) were excellent, as was the service. Could not fault it, will return.

My husband and I try to stay at Excelsior for 3 or 4 nights at least once a year. It is the most perfect place to relax, de-stress and chill out. The manor house is delightful, full of the De Wet family antiques and when sitting down to a delicious home-cooked meal by Carin, the wonderful "multi-tasking" manageress, you can well imagine the elegant dinners enjoyed in the dining room years and years ago. Carin's cooks with lovely fresh ingredients and her delicious dinners are homely and appetising. If you are lucky enough to be there on a night when she's doing bobotie, you'll have the best one in South Africa! The savoury muffins served hot from the oven at breakfast are to die for! Dinner is served accompanied by the delicious Excelsior wines, which flow generously throughout the meal and are included in the price, which makes it tremendously good value for money. The stoops - one in the front and the back of the manor - are wonderful places during the day to sit and relax with a book, usually kept company by Kyla or Tammy, Carin's faithful dogs. The pool and surrounding deck is another delightful place to sit and while away the hours. The scenery is stunning and can be enjoyed from anywhere in or around the manor. I can't speak highly enough about the staff, from Carin, who really puts herself out to help in any way she can, James the butler, who does an excellent job of serving the drinks and dinner and all the girls, who work so hard to keep the place immaculate. There are lots of places to visit in the area, and after our recent stay of 4 nights, we wish we'd stayed longer!

Room Tip: We alway like to have "Azure" (all the rooms are named after race horses), as this is well...
