We went for lunch with family on a Saturday. We were very impressed by the beautiful garden and fantastic restaurant. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive and the wine was very good. The menu was impressive and we were excited about our food. It was beautifully presented but really very disappointing. The tuna carpaccio was almost completely tasteless except for the unpleasantly large chunks of salt. The goats cheese parcels were good but soggy and very oily. For mains the pork belly was tough and covered in a crust that was bitter and burnt tasting and an equally burnt tasting 'jus'- not possible to discern the promised chili and ginger at all. The kudu loin was well cooked but covered with the same unappetizing crust. All the food was excessively salty. While the menu certainly has potential and presentation is good it feels like it is all just trying a little too hard to be 'haute cuisine' rather than getting the basics right and doing justice to the ingredients.
