We enjoyed our visit, tasted good wines and it was difficult to choose which ones to buy. Good value for money wines.

We were told by our B+B host to try the wine pairings, and this was a great tip.

The buildings are new, modern, tasteful and relaxing, in a beautiful setting. The staff were courteous and helpful, chatted and advised, and gave advice. The toilets spotless.

We spent almost two hours there. We each tried a wine pairing where five wines were paired with five different foods; we chose nougat and nuts, and cheese and wine. All foods were local. The tasting notes were interesting, and they happily provided extra copies so we could both taste all 10 wines and compare our scoring. Great, slightly competitive, fun. Including the tasting of a couple of extras (chocolate flavoured wine - didn't like this) and a glass of sparkling, we tried about 15 wines.

Good value, all pairings were R45.

A walk in the shady gardens around the pond and water feature, and then into the estate a bit, completed the relaxing afternoon, before moving onto the next estate. We visited several here and elsewhere, but this was easily my favoured stop-off in South Africa.

We wished we had had time for the hiking tour (R40)(3 hours but a rugged 7km apparently), or a meal in their restaurant.

They are helpful in ordering wines to be shipped back to Europe via their agent.

Wine tasting is free, but I would strongly recommend the food and wine pairings.

What used to be a bit of a scruffy poorly organised wine tasting experience has been upgraded to a first class experience. The wine range has also improved. There is also a nice restaurant which serves good food.

we had a lunch at van loveren, new cellar and winetasting room.
Lunch was only very average and wines a (even the Christina range)are not at the same (far from) as for example Springfield. Next time we try something else, not van Loveren
It was weekend so loads of families with small kids

I arrived with 2 clients at Van Loveren wine estate at 4pm on a hot Saturday afternoon, having driven 5 hours from Oudtshoorn, only to be told they are closed and actually they close at 3.30pm.
After I begged the lady if we could do a quick wine tasting, she grudgingly agreed.
The gentleman who conducted it was very disinterested, told us not one thing about the wines and poured red wine into glasses that still had some white wine in them.
How can one possibly think it makes sense to stop wine tasting at so early an hour, especially in the middle of a very busy season?
Very disappointing. I shall not take clients there again!!!
