Attraction details
Owner description: Wild Oats is a local farmers and food market open every Saturday morning until 12 noon. We are located on the western outskirts of Sedgefield at the turnoff to Sedgefield Island. An award winning Garden Route landmark we are not to be confused with the Scarab Craft Market to the far east of Engen Petrol Station or the Mosaic Flea Market across the road from Wild Oats. As a food market, our open times are limited due to the short shelf-life of many of our LOCALLY PRODUCED products which include: Free-range chicken, beef, pork and lamb, free-range eggs, multiple cheese, dairy and baked products including fresh gouda, cheddar, blue-cheeses... milk, fresh fish, fruits, free-range & organic vegetables in season, many traditional and exotic bottled goods, organic olives, berries, rusks, koeksisters, biltong & wors, famous artisan breads, award-winning cheesecakes and goats cheeses... and on and on and on. Also a fabulous range of hot-off-the-grill breakfasts, coffees, teas and fresh-squeeze juices and smoothies. FOOD HEAVEN! Come face-to-face with our local food producers every Saturday morning, come rain or shine.

“Wild Oats - Simply the best”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Definitely the best in South Africa. We visit the market every Saturday and also refer many visitors to the market on a weekly basis.

“Well spent morning!!”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

Farmers markets are the first thing I look for when visiting a new area. It is such a great place to spend some time, support the locals and stock up on great produce. Of the many markets I have spent time at this would rate as one of the best! The vendors are all friendly and proud of what they sell. I purchased good steaks, freshly picked veggies and fruit that was all great. We also had a quick breakfast of german sausages on a roll and finished it off with sweet "koeksisters" (syrup soaked doughnuts). The market just has a great feel too it and there is so many small places to sit and watch the people do there thing. If you are anywhere close, make an effort and pop in.

“Stunning vibe”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

We visited Sedgefield for 11 days so was lucky enough to visit the market twice. I would recommend you go hungry as there is a wonderful variety of fresh food on offer. We started off by buying freshly pressed juice, then walked around looking at all that is on offer before choosing our breakfast and eating underneath the trees while watching the people (and dogs) go by. All the stall owners are very friendly and love to chat about their produce. All in all such a nice vibe and a wonderful day to spend a Saturday morning.

“Amazing people/ vibes/ products @ this market!”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

Enjoying your holiday around the Garden Route, make the time on Saturday morning to go to Wild Oats!
We were on holiday in Knysna and the locals told us about Wild Oats. The market is massive, so do make sure you have the time and do take enough cash with you. Wear comfy shoes ladies - it helps you to shop longer....! The stallholders are very friendly, products are fresh and browsing the craft market is a real treat.
The variety of food/ fresh products that's on offer, is amazing, have your breakfast there! Coming from Mapumalanga, we found all the price's reasonable!
An outing that will be enjoyed by one and all.
