This is actually a good place but you need to be there at the right time!We came at high tide so we could not walk to it but saw it at a distance.

“Awesome Fossilised Sand Dunes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2014

The sand dunes here are supposedly the highest fossilised sand dunes in the world. When you see them, you can believe this.
But what is a fossilised sand dune? The best way to understand it is to go and see and feel!
The dunes are now made up not of soft sand but of a honey-comb-like "sandstone" a bit like a hard sponge to look at.
And do not be fooled when you get there - the dunes are covered in vegetation, but they are there blow the green.

It is a bit of a walk down to the beach - wooden steps set in the bank. Folks not good at steps or with mobility problems will have to be content with viewing from the car park.

It is a beautiful beach .

Go early or the car park will be full; the access road is very bumpy so will be a slow drive.
Don't leave psosseions lying around visible in your car - make sure they are out of sight and locked in the boot - we were warned about security issues with breakins.

“Fantastic beach walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2013

The walk to Gerickes point is a must for any beach lover. It is an easy 4 kms stroll there and back. There is always something different to see - black oystercatchers, a beached whale, featherduster worms, nautilis shells to name a few. In spring tide, the rocks are exposed and there are hundreds of small pools to explore and search for octopus. The night version of this walk is an experience in itself.

“Beautiful beach walk, fun with kids!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2013

A beautiful beach walk fun for kids, all ages as not too far. Go at low tide or spring low and there are amazing rock pools to explore. One of the few places on the Garden Route that you still find some shells although the variety is nothing like it used to be! A popular sea fishing spot too! Lovely to take a picnic and spend a few hours.
