This was a wonderful morning spent wondering around the little stalls. Some of the local artwork that was available there was exceptional. There is also a strong christian theme in the market - which was refreshing.

This village is worth a visit. It has got a pleasant arty vibe. On a Saturday morning you need lots of time here. If you prefer a more quiet visit, go during the week.

Scarab Village is justifiably called the "Artbeat of Sedgefield". It is a popular venue known for quality products because artists come from far and wide along the Garden Route to showcase their talents there on a Saturday morning.
I love the vibe that greets one on a Saturday when the market is in full swing. A lone singer on his guitar croons ballads and 60's music whilst happy carefree children head for the playground. Well mannered dogs on leads are welcome too. Adults can browse through all kinds of artwork, from beautiful glassware to mosaic mirrors, flour sack clothing to hand painted tablecloths. There's beautiful beaded jewelry, bags, woven hats, hand carved wooden bowls, decorative animals woven from wire, an indigenous nursery and much more. There's a variety of food options once you get weary and/or hungry, from a restaurant providing breakfasts and lunches to places offering light meals and tea and scones or cakes or even take-away snacks. There is something for everyone and families on holidays can enjoy a morning sampling the various delights of this energetic arts and crafts market. It has a warm and friendly bohemian atmosphere that blends well with creative spirits and people in holiday mood.
Directions
Next to the Engen Garage on the N2 out of Sedgefield heading in the George direction, the vast numbers of cars will quickly give a visitor an indication of where the Village is. The ever popular Wild Oats Farmers market is in the same vicinity so both markets can be visted and enjoyed on the same day. Both operate without fail come rain come shine. The one exception is if Christmas falls on a Saturday - only then are they both closed.
