If you want to know how if feels to come home in Somerset even though you live on the other side of the globe. Well this is the place where you need to go. You are welcome by the owners as soon as you drive through the gate of the guesthouse. As a welcome the flag of your country is hung out at the gate. This people are serious about giving their guests the best time.
The rooms are standard for a guest house with all necessary appliances. Remember this is a guest house and not a hotel so everything has a homefeel to it. So don't expect a state of the art room with designer furniture in it. Bed is good as is the bathroom. I was staying at a room with a balcony of which I could easily see the seashore which gave it an nice touch.
Food at this guest house is very good. The owners are Belgian and they surely know how to serve you a good homecooked meal. The also dine with you which really gives everything an extra touch.
They helped up out with a trip to different vineyards and I have to say the chooses they made for us were very good. We were only there for 3 days and without their help we would not have been able to visit as many wine estates as we did.
An extra to this guest house is the sauna which will be turned on for you on simple request. This guesthouse made me feel at home but home with somebody doing everything for me instead of me doing everything.
So in short. Come home at Berrydel Gourmet Guest House and you will regret having to leave for your own place.
I've put on a few pounds. Our host at The Berrydel Guest House offered us selection of the best South African wines, such as Laibach and Springfield with each wondeful meal.
There is no dought this is the right setting for an ambient dinner. We were told that over the warmer months from September to April dinner is mostly served outside, providing magnificent sea views, while sitting beneath the beautiful star-filled African sky. The May colder days offers the atmosphere of a stunning dining room, stylish cutlery and provides Riedel glasses for the enjoyment of wines or South African champagnes. Thank you for the stay. Now off to the gym....
