“Laid back country style German pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2013

Very informal, rustic atmosphere created not only by the unique decor but also the continental patrons that frequent this popular restaurant/pub. The service was excellent and the food is wholesome, well prepared and tasty. The specialty of the house being various schnitzels and Eisbein (which you need to order in advance) and guests at our table were all more than happy with their choices. The salad could do with a renovation, but that could have been due to the season and limited availability of produce. Excellent German beers on tap and a place well worth a revisit with friends!

“Surprisingly decent traditional German Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2012

I was looking for a place to take my mom, and her friends who are from Austria. I looked up on the internet for local German cuisine and asked around on a local page on a social network. Im Eimer came up a few times, I was warned its mainly for drinking and a party BUT we were going for a lunch. How many parties are there lunch time When you get there its a dirt road that leads up to the place and it does not look like much, there were a few other patrons, the inside decor could be a little more German and not so uhm out of place and stuff everywhere, the lady from Austria was a little concerned as to how nice the Jäger Schnitzel, Mushroom and Cream Sauce with Spätzle's she ordered would be looking around at the restaurant. The three of them ordered the same and I went for the Wiener Schnitzel, crumbed, with Lemon and Chips. I asked for salad instead of the chips and they were happy to oblige. We all received our food and we were all impressed as to the portions and the taste. It was definitely nicer than we expected and I would recommend Im Eimer for a Traditional German Meal.

“Wonderful and wacky”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2012

The decor is totally wacky and fun, they've used all kinds of scraps to make a truly unique effect. Full marks for that. Incidentally the name Im Eimer (German) means 'in the bucket' meaning that the items they've used for decorating are no longer useful. Wonderful to then make them into artefacts of bygone times.

The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, and you can choose between inside and outside, quiet and music, as well as a room dedicated to the Formula 1 enthusiasts.

The food is wonderful and reasonably priced. Cool in summer and they have a huge fireplace for the cold days. Definitely a place we will return to.
