“Picnic in nature with excellent views..”

Great spot to take in fresh air and relax whilst picnicking under the shady trees. Walks offer spectacular views and one can expect to come bump into a tortoise or two...

“Safe environment to walk and wonderful views”
Reviewed 8 January 2014

With crime finding its way into almost every public walking place on the Cape peninsula, this remains one of the few really safe places to walk if you are 2 or 3 women, and even solo! The views are spectacular on a clear day, there are benches dotted about for those keen to rest and admire the scenery, and there is a small coffee shop for a cuppa afterwards.
On the downside - even though the shop/office was open - the map provided is rudimentary; the signage on the hillside is not clear/frequent so it is not a simple matter to follow a particular route. But if you have no specific destination and don't mind wandering about you can have a very enjoyable few hours. The shop/office is very basic, and souveniers are poor. The coffee
shop is a lovely spot, but the lady running it is rather brusque and intimidating!

“Very nice, but...”
Reviewed 31 December 2013

...not well managed. If we pay an entrance fee, we expect a certain service level. Information Centre closed on DEC31st (and all other holidays). No map around. Bought a print-out in the Café; this map gives you just a rough idea. That wouldn't have been a problem, if the trails would have been marked properly - they are not at all! At a few crossings you find a sign, but that's it! So, you got to have a good sense of orientation.
There are no bins for litter available.

Now the Positives: The Nature Reserve offers a wonderful nature experience with a broad variation of fijnbos. Most views are just spectacular!

“Great walk, great view!”
Reviewed 16 December 2013

Some of the best walks and views in the area - just make sure you find a RECENT map - as there was none indicating the routes when I arrived, nor are they indicated clearly (almost non-existent) - a worker said they they were in the process of upgrading the route signage - just a pity they don't provide one with something as personal safety should be key on a mountain walk. Don't miss the Reserve for this reason - rather do your homework first as it is well worth the walk. A shop which sells maps, was closed and only opens much later that the recommended time for starting a long walk - later bought the map, but useless if the routes on the reserve are not colour marked as coded on the map.

“Hiking fun ”
Reviewed 12 December 2013 via mobile

We have climbed both to the summit and to the gorge on occasion.

The nature reserve is such a gorgeous area with plentiful birds and protea to look at. The climbs are sometimes steep and allows you to get a nice workout!
Go early morning when it's less busy and hot. Go to the gorge and get a nice refreshing drink. Beautiful place.
