This nature reserve is well worth a visit and there is an eatery and all sorts of attractions. A picnic area is designated for families and children's parties, etc.

Firstly, just to go and sit down and relax under the big old trees. Then there is different activities like the Echo Rangers for the children to join. Hiking trails for adults. During summer months there is music shows at sunset to enjoy. But remember it is a Nature Reserve ...so NO FIRES!
Pack your own picnic basket.

A family favourite over the years, the Friends of the Helderberg continue to sustain a delightful and very special area of Cape flora and fauna. There is also a vibrant education centre providing access to the wilderness to those who would not usually be able to have such opportunities. Well worth exploring the trails and taking in the magnifcent views.

Last night's rain illuminated the dew droplets on the fynbos, proteas and watsonia ... enjoyed an amazing morning ascending the West Peak from the western side - peace, quiet, birds and well marked paths (signage, trail pebbles and cairns) to assist a solo ascend in the thick mist on the mountain face ... the effort was rewarded shortly after arrival at the top beacon on West Peak - the mist blew away and the views were amazing!
