We invite you to experience the world of Vergelegen first-hand.

We liked this place - beautiful gardens and great food. We had quite bad weather so I expect that on a sunny day the grounds would be even better. The food at the restaurant was excellent and staff very friendly. It was quite corporate, though - felt a bit sanitised. I preferred wine tasting at smaller estates, with some cheese. I also didn't particularly like the wine as it was quite sharp. So I'd say it was a good day out but not very atmospheric. If you're looking for small and intimate then this probably isn't your place. But the gardens are beautiful.

What a pleasure to experience the preservation of history in such spectacular surroundings! There is a great collection of antique furniture in the manor house, and the library is also very interesting. Unfortunately we did not get the opportunity to have lunch at the Stables restaurant, as we rather utilised our time to stroll around the gardens on a beautiful sunny day. The colourful roses and old-old camphor trees were the highlights, as well as watching the squirrels dashing around. The wine tasting was another pleasant experience, presented by knowledgeable and pleasant staff members.

What a beautiful experience (guided by Frieda Stanbridge) through the wines of this estate. Beautiful grounds, great wine, and most of all, an all around wonderful experience. To miss this would be a terrible mistake. Drink lots and enjoy each and every wine.

My wife and I spent an idyllic day at Vergelegen. We had visited before but only spent a hour or so - the tasting room has been upgraded and new restaurants opened since our last visit a few years ago. We began with some wine tasting (R 30 for 4 wines) then strolled around the beautiful gardens prior to lunch. Lunch was at The Stables restaurant - nice food at surprisingly cost effective prices but would recommend booking in advance (as we did).
We rounded off the day by spending time in the old library and enjoyed looking at some very old books. At some wine estates you get served by rather snooty staff but all the folk we met were down to earth and very pleasant. Recommended.

In the midst of suburbia lies this jewel with a beautiful manor house, filled with furniture from the different eras. One can spend an entire day walking through enchanted gardens. The rose garden is breathtaking when in full bloom. The forest with a lovely walking trail and full of camelias soothes the senses. When visiting the main house, the octaganol garden is spectacular. There is a river that runs through the estate, with walking trails that pass along the river as well as a bridge that cross the river from the estate to the forest. When touring the beautiful house, it is as if time stops. The extended library is gorgeous and one can almost picture the family gathering there for a lovely afternoon of high tea and reading.
The stables restaurant caters for all tastes and whether one wants a light meal or just something to drink, you will be able to get it at The Stables Restaurant.
The trees on the farm are over 300 years old and amazing.
The farm is surrounded by the Helderberg Mountain range and one gets a spectacular view of it from the Stables restaurant.
My afternoon concluded with a wine tasting, overlooking the beautiful herb garden.
With a play pen for kids and so many walking trails, this scenic working farm offers so much.
