We had a wonderful time. We felt pampered and spoilt by a beautiful setting, together with excellent and caring service.

Room Tip: Ask if they can upgrade to a family room if they are not too full.

What a place this hotel is. Beautiful surroundings, spectacular scenery, marvelous accommodation and brilliant food. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were always attentive and helpful. Although it is about 30 minutes by car from Cape Town, it would be an excellent base to visit the towns of Franschoek and Stellenbosch, and all the nearby wineries.

We spent a weekend at Erinvale. In contrast to a well known spa hotel that we approached, the enquiry was handled quite efficiently, as was the check in. On arrival it was clear that the local staff have been well trained and were keen to please.

The first floor room with thatch roof was comfortable and well appointed. A bit breezy due a big gap under the door. The bathroom was fine with the exception of the toilet roll holder that could inflict a serious and embarrasing accidental injury! You live in close proximity to nature. Waking up to the sound of the birds singing on the first morning was refreshing. However the squawking peacocks at 4 am on the second morning weren't considered that cute.

The meals in the Magnolia restuarant were exceptionally good. Menu choices are limited, but the quality and presentation of the food is of the best. The Sunday lunch buffet offered a wide variety of interesting dishes and good value for money . The comprehensive wine list offered a great selection of lovely wines at reasonable prices. The ambience and food quality were to class. Lunch and dinner service was very attentive. Unfortunately the breakfast service was a bit slow as on both occasions as the staff seemed rather interested in the morning newspapers.

The spa facilities are limited, but the the treatment at the spa was unhurried, and relaxing, leaving us totally rejuvenated.

Room Tip: The classic upstairs rooms have a great ambience with the thatch roof and attic windows.

Excellent service, friendly check in staff & superb wineland suroundings. Vergelegen wine farm is literally down the road and is world class. (we recommend their Chardonnay 2009). Tip: if you are friendly you will receive excellent service (as with most places).

We ate there last night and are surprised we are still alive. The food is truly shocking - straight from the freezer to your table. Most of us felt ill all night- everything was so greasy and unpleasant. Do not eat here unless you are very desperate.
