We stayed here for a few days and loved the location and peacefulness. However, the reception staff were inadequate and overstaffed, even when there were 3, the service was not very good. I think one very good knowledgeable, friendly receptionist, who was interested in their guests would be better. The Friday night buffet food was average and the waitress that evening was terrible, considering we were the only guests eating at 8pm that evening, expected better service however it seems the other way around. Plates not cleared, had to look for her when we needed some new cutlery, as it was a buffet of different national foods, etc... Food was average as well, nothing special. Would certainly not recommend the Friday night Asian selection buffet to anyone!! Avoid!!

Must mention that the breakfast staff were good and Dennis (a manager in the evening) did give us a complimentary drink and snack due to the fact we had to sit in the foyer/reception area for internet access, that should have been in the rooms. Thanks Dennis, seems you are keeping the service ...flame burning...

Pros:
- Excellent location for the winelands
- Lovely peaceful establishment
- Excellent spacious rooms, very comfortable with all the necessary requirements

Cons:
- Not good evening restaurant service
- Unprofessional and inadequate receptionists
- Noisy crickets in the room (eventually caught one of the culprits))
- NO internet Wifi available in the room, as advertised and had to go sit in the reception area

In conclusion, it is sad as this looks like an awesome venue, and has all the potential to be the best in this exclusive area, but seems to be let down a bit...

Dear Sir,
Erinvale Hotel & Spa – TripAdvisor
As the General Manager of Erinvale Hotel and Spa I am saddened by your experience of our Hotel as laid out in your complaint through TripAdvisor. I am however extremely grateful for your constructive feedback, without such criticism, it is impossible for any establishment to pick up on issues such as those that you highlighted.
Rare as they are, we deal with each and every complaint thoroughly and in your particular case will address the various unfortunate circumstances in detail. I was particularly glad for some of the suggestions that you made in order to rectify the problems as you saw them. I am certainly going to explore and in some cases put into action your helpful direction.
I once again thank you for your comments and look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel.
Kindest regards and best wishes

Spent two nights at the hotel. Surprised at previous bad reviews as staff were friendly, helpful and very professional. Room was spacious with all the necessary features. The pub is a good casual venue to entertain friends. The curry was excellent in the pub and the breakfast very good. Had the continental buffet while colleague ordered from the menu. Stayed at hotel because I was playing in a golf tournament at the estate. Hotel right next to main entrance which makes it a great venue. Will stay again when back for next tournament.

Stayed for the night on 29 March 2014. Under reservation Gavin Botha.
We had several problems with the hotel and its staff.
Upon arrival our room was not ready
We had a poor lunch with poor service and a very oily overcooked pasta
We arranged a shuttle service from the hotel to a wine estate where we attended a wedding
Shuttle were to fetch us from venue at 23:30
The wedding was delayed and when we wanted to extend the time for shuttle pick up we were told its not possible. After giving apologies to the bride we waited outside until 00:20 for the shuttle to arrive.
Upon entering the room a giant spider (which I had ask to remove before we left) was still gazing from the curtain window.
As we tried to sleep we noted no matter if the air-con is switch on or off it gives a squeeking compressing sound every 30min on the dot.
After little sleep making coffee the cups which were greasy and coffee unappetising.
At checkout my concerns for our visit was expressed to the recipsionist which took my email.
I am still waiting for response form the hotel.
STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!! SO MANY BETTER PLACES TO STAY IN THE AREA....!!

Dear Guest

At Erinvale Estate Hotel we endeavour always to provide our guests with an experience they will long remember. The many plaudits and compliments we receive on a regular basis bear testament to the fact that we, more times than not, attain the goals we set out for our establishment.
It is with a great deal of sadness and some surprise that I came across your comments on TripAdvisor. Whilst many might say that one cannot please all the people all the time, this is certainly not our attitude. We are currently looking into the specifics of your stay as set out in your complaint and I can personally assure you that any corrections or adjustments that need to be made will be immediately actioned.
We are grateful to you for bringing this to our attention; it is guests like you that assist us in making Erinvale Estate Hotel the wonderful place that it is.
I have also responded to you via the email address you kindly left at reception.

Yours sincerely

The hotel reception staff (3 young ladies) were exceptionally rude and never tried to solve any issues. The hotel was infested by crickets which made it impossible to sleep especially room 11. Night manager and an assistant manager (Dennis) were the only helpful people. Room 28 shower floor was so uneven (slanted down towards the outlet hole by 15 cm) that my wife slipped and fell and very badly cut her big toe on a broken tile. The hotel is not equipped for medical emergencies like this. Breakfast staff told my wife at 09:50 on a Sunday morning, that they have no more croissants were available after I took one of 7 croissants, just 20 seconds before that time. Breakfast staff were very eager to shut the kitchen. Breakfast staff also told my wife and I, that we lied about our order and that we have to take the hard boiled eggs instead of fried eggs. The bills were mostly calculated incorrectly and this was highly frustrating and embarrassing. Never again will anybody treat us like this again!!!

Room Tip: Make sure that you know exactly what you are about to pay for, especially if you pre-book and with v...

Thank you very much for communicating your observations to us.

We are truly shocked with your experiences encountered during your stay and I would like to take this opportunity to most sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

To address the details of your stay, I have interviewed the relevant staff concerned. The receptionists did their utmost to assist with your queries as quick as possible. On check out, they required you to hand over the vouchers to counter balance the charges for dinner, etc. this is a procedure to ensure that our books and your invoice balance.

The hotel is set in a lush park like setting most of the rooms having direct access to the garden, hence intrusion of bugs like a cricket may occur. In order to assist you immediately, we moved you into another room to avoid further disruption to your stay.

The next morning our housekeeper arranged for you to be allocated a new room and together with you, inspected this room and she arranged this to accommodate all your personal requirements. In addition, to your wine and cheese board in the room she included flowers and a complimentary fruit basket to make you even more comfortable.

She further followed up with you on Saturday and Sunday as to whether you are content and satisfied with your stay, only to find out that you really appreciate the services of the hotel and the room in specific.

Regarding the breakfast, we have investigated about the closing times and the ordering of your eggs. The normal closing time for breakfast is 10.00 AM and the staff closed at 10.40, as some guests including yourself were still busy and they do not interrupt the guests during their meal. Some of the items on the buffet may be depleted due to usage.

The waitress which took the order for your eggs repeated your order and offered afterwards to change the boiled eggs to fried eggs, of which you stated you are fine with the boiled eggs.

It is most unfortunate that your wife cut her toe whilst in the shower. We most sincerely apologize for this and hope that she has recovered well.

It is our utmost endeavor to ensure that all our guests have an enjoyable and relaxing stay with us, and sincerely hope that you are able to come back to our hotel to experience our usual high standard of service.

Yours sincerely

We missed Erinvale last year but very pleased to say the service and warm welcome is as good as ever.
There have been improvements the rooms have been upgraded especially the bathrooms. The main asset of this hotel is the quality of the staff, nothing is to much trouble and they are always willing to assist to the customers requirements.
Very pleased to see the loungers around the 2 pools have been replaced which is also a great improvement we found them comfortable also the permanent shaded area in the terraced pool area.
I understand there are changes planned over the next couple of years, I sincerely hope this wont affect the service and character of the hotel which we find quite unique. We look forward to our trip next year and do hope not too many changes to this boutique hotel.

Room Tip: We prefer downstairs as we enjoy the outside terrace.
