Description: Cavalli’s approach to cuisine can be described as ‘modern, nature inspired cuisine’, inspired by a focus on our heritage as it draws upon the landscapes, flora and fauna of Southern and Continental Africa. The menu seeks to take diners on a gastronomic journey, touching on points of nostalgia paired with an expertly crafted local and international wine list, artisanal cocktail, craft beer and a notable selection of single malt whiskeys. Herbs and a selection of vegetables on the menu are grown in the Estate's self sustained heirloom garden. The restaurant is set to establish itself as a premier fine dining destination locally and internationally and is now open for lunch and dinner 4 days a week, Wednesday through Saturday for relaxed, generous Bistro lunch and Fine-Dining Dinner and Sunday Fine-Dining Lunch.

“SHOCKING CUSTOMER CARE!”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

A group of friends and I popped into Equus for an afternoon drink. We have had drinks at Equus before and I decided to bring some friends along who hadn't visited before. What a disappointment. Firstly, the wine tasting is buried deep in the bowels of the building, dark with absolutely no outside light or view, very strange indeed! Secondly, it was past the lunch rush-hour being 3pm and we asked for the pit area where we could try Cavalli wine and enjoy the view. We were told by management that under no circumstances could we sit outside without dining! It was past lunch time and the restaurant was virtually empty but they refused us entry! How ridiculously stupid! Why would any establishment politely tell patrons to leave when the establishment is quiet and we would be spending money! Not impressed at all and it seems none of my friends will be back!

“Worth the trip”
Reviewed 3 May 2014 via mobile

Fantastic concept and perfect execution. From the sweeping views down the dramatic driveway to the hanging gardens at the entrance, every detail helps to prepare you for a unique and delectable dining experience.

As a vegetarian, I was pleased to find serious attention paid to the vegetable courses. And as an avid drinker, I was pleasantly surprised by the spirit selection and the very capable mixologists on hand. My Blanton's Manhattan was smooth and balanced.

The desserts were artistic and inventive but didn't lose sight of the end goal: yum.

I don't often venture out of Cape Town proper, but I am more than happy to make an exception for Equus. Well done.

Please add a party bus service.

“Perfection”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

The food was magnificent; plating, presentation and flavour combinations were all world class. The service was impeccable, special mention must go the sommelier Farai and the hostess Amy. Farai was so professional and personable I thought he was the manager while Amy was integral in setting up the whole experience with her warm greeting and lovely smile. Will certainly be back.

“Getting better with every visit”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

This was my fourth visit to this restaurant. Polite reception at entrance gate, well lit parking area, courteous greeting at front desk - and a special table for my handbag - a first ever!! Delightful welcome nibble, beautiful wine glasses, improved wine list, well informed waiting staff ( food and wine), artistic plating of the food, scallop starter "more-ish", pork main dish a bit fatty but still delicious. It was our friends' first visit, but I am sure they will be back, as will we. Thank you for being better with each of our visits.
