I have now stayed at Impangele twice, and I love it here. Amanda and Dave are super friendly, and make you incredibly welcome, so Impangele feels like home straight away. They are always ready to share their extensive knowledge of both Swellendam and South Africa, as well as extensive knowledge of the wines of the region! They can also organise local trips for you, if you so desire. The rooms are each individually decorated with a different animal theme. We, for example, were in the zebra room, and were kitted out with everything from zebra slippers to zebra pencils. This quirky design idea is fabulous and really contributes to making your stay even more enjoyable. The B and B is a beautiful old, Cape style villa and is in the perfect location. It is in within walking distance of the town, including many great restaurants (Amanda and Dave have fantastic local knowledge about the best eateries) but also right at the entrance to the national park and the fabulous mountains. I could never quite get used to walking out of my front door and seeing the mountains right there! They are particuarly beautiful at sunset, when the pink hue sets in. Stunning! The youngberry farm just down the road is the perfect place for presents, and luckily you can sample them either at the farm of even at Impangele, where the wonderful jams will be a part of your delcious breakfast selection. If you are ever in the vicinity of Swellendam stay at Impangele, it is a fabulous to stay and will become a home away from home.

I had a truly amazing stay at Impangele. Amanda and Dave are impeccable hosts, always keen to help with suggestions of where to go, or trips to take. They even arrange trips for you if possible - on one day all of the guests of the B&B took a trip out together to Bontebok National Park in the morning and then on a wine tasting experience in the afternoon. As a long traveller the chance to meet and spend time with the other guests was a real treat, and wine tasting is a lot more fun in a group! They also arranged a Braai for a number of the guests one evening, which is a must-have experience for a traveller to South Africa.

Swellendam is a little known jewel in South Africa, and Impangele is so well situated that if you have a car, or hire one, then just an hour and a half's drive (which is considered a short drive in Africa!) in any direction will take you to amazing experiences - whale watching, ostrich riding, elephant feeding. Right within Swellendam itself there is plenty to do, The famous Fairy Sanctuary is 15 minutes walk in one direction, and Wildebraam Berry Farm 15 minutes the other way. Wildebraam does the most amazing jams and liqueurs I've ever tasted (and they offer free tasting!). The breakfasts in the morning are fantastic as well, even for a vegetarian such as me. Amanda and Dave are quite happy to cater for different diets and allergies, and finding out in advance that I was a vegetarian bought vegetarian sausages especially.

I was lucky enough to be able to stay in two different rooms while I was there, both the Zebra room and the Leopard room. They were both very comfortable and have really unique styles. It was fun to explore the room and see how much attention to detail there really is to each theme - the Zebra room even has little zebra hats you can wear, the Leopard room has a leopard jigsaw!

Dave and Amanda are as unique as the rooms and make you feel so welcome that you don't want to leave. There was nothing I could ask that was too much for them; they even recommended trips I hadn't thought of and drew a helpful map so I could find hidden treasures the area has to offer that I hadn't even known where there.

I would have no hesitation at all in recommending Impangele (and the Swellendam area in general!) to friends, family or complete strangers, and the Swellendam area in general. There's so much to do there that a week wasn't quite long enough!

Charming b&b with fantastic hosts. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and well-designed. Every room has it's own theme. Amanda has done a great job decorating the rooms.
Swellendam is a great starting point visiting the nearby Parks, Bodega's and coast. Amanda and Dave are the best hosts you can imagine and will do everything to make you feel comfortable.
Amanda, thanks for organizing the wine-tour and the visit to Bontebok National Park.

Sure I will visit you again in the near future,

Cheers,

Mark Gremmen

Room Tip: No doubt every room is excellent.

Having heard ambivalent reviews of the only backpackers in Swellendam, my friend and I decided to stay in a BnB when we stopped off there for a few days. My friend had stayed in Impangele before and said it was lovely. We were there four nights and were made very comfortable and welcome throughout. Amanda and Dave were always friendly and incredibly willing to give us help in getting around. The rooms are beautifully done-up, and lend a quirky charm to your stay. (Go in the Zebra room, if only to get the fluffy hats). The guesthouse itself is very well-situated, just up the hill from the main street in Swellendam, and at the foot of the national park. The Berry farm that does liqueur tasting is also within walking distance. If you're thinking of stopping in Swellendam, stay at Impangele. You'll feel very at home, and Amanda and Dave can give you great advice on things to do whilst you're here.

Fantastic! Dave and Amanda are fantastic hosts, and ensured our stay was memorable, from the lovely room and breakfast to the township tour and Xhosa banquet they organised. There is so much more to do in Swellendam, we would definately stay at Impangele again.
