“African stay at Swellendam”
Reviewed 6 December 2011

On our way from Plettenberg bay to Cape town and back to cold and wet Holland we stayed a night at Impangele B&B . It was a nice experience thanks to Dave and Amanda who are great guests. We had just arrived in the aftrernoon and inside the hour we were sharing a bottle of red wine with them and watching all types of birds drinking sugar water on there beautiful terras. Our room was named Leopared and we soon realised why because everything in the room were in leopard colours/style which was amazing. They recommended Sabine for dinner and this was a excellent choice. The breakfast in the morning was good and very filling. Considering the price we payed this is a very good bargin and we would certainly go back.

David and Amanda greeted us like old friends and immediately invited us to join them for a drink on the front veranda. A very amusing couple with a great sense of humour and fun. The rooms are a delight and you spot something different every time you look around. There were 4 of us and we had the leopard and zebra rooms and frankly the only things missing were an actual leopard and zebra (thankfully!) Excellent advice from Amanda about eating in the town and she even booked a table for us - what a meal we had! The following morning we were given the best breakfast we'd had in South Africa - stupendous! Being a birdwatcher I couldn't believe my eyes when the staggeringly beautiful Cape Sugarbirds and Sunbirds were feeding on the nectar feeder four feet from the table - wow! If you fancy the best full English breakfast in the Cape with a sense of fun and brilliant birdlife then stay here!

Room Tip: Choose any room and enjoy the animal experience!

The rooms are animal themed and as such are pure fun. Our big cat room was spacious and luxurious.I felt immediately at home and just laughed all the time we were with our hosts. A truely lucky find.

Dave and Amanda are fantastic hosts at this quaint B&B atop a rolling hill in the picturesque historic town of Swellendam. The rooms are clean and comfy and the breakfast was one of the best we've had! We were pleasantly surprised about the large number of fun things for us to do in Swellendam and surrounding areas, particularly after having been told by others that there was nothing to do here! There are some fantastic restaurants, all within walking distance of Impangele, and the town is relatively safe to walk through, even at night. The price was so good, we stayed an extra night!

Room Tip: Beauty's homemade authentic Xhosa dinner is a must-try!

This place is just amazing, a true retreat. Lazy bird watching because the most beautiful birds are simply all around in the garden... Take a tour with Pete, Fynbus, a go taste wine or watch whales, and then relax at Impagnele in between again...Just perfect! Thank you!!
