“Wonderful place to stay”
Reviewed 5 February 2010

Most of the guest houses that we used during our recent trip to South Africa were excellent, and this was amongst the best. Our hosts went out of their way to make our stay most enjoyable. For example, they arranged for us to join them in a wine tasting that was taking place in a local restaurant as soon as we arrived. They also arranged for us to have the benefit of an excellent guide to the local National Park. The breakfasts were truly amazing - you won't go hungry if you stay here. The standard of the accommodation was very good, especially for the price. I would happily recommend Impangele to any visitor to the area.

My family and I passed through Swellendam and stayed at Impangele recently and what was going to be a stop over turned into one of the highligths of our holiday. Dave and Amanda's wonderful hospitality was amazing. We stayed in the cottage, leopard room and another room. My rather discerning parents described the bed in the leopard room as the best bed they have ever slept on. The cottage was a wonderful 'basecamp' for the family. We will definitely go back!

We had two nights with Dave and Amanda during our recent trip to South Africa and they could not have done more to make our trip so special. From the beer on the deck when we pitched up with friends who were moving on elsewhere, introducing us to Pete, who gave us a fantastic educational tour at the Bontebok National Park, sampling their local watering hole, helping us book our safari, suggesting other places to go and taking us to their favorite wine farm for a Saturday evening of fab wine, tapas and live music.
Nothing was too much trouble for them, or if it was, we never knew.
Impangele itself was a delight and we stayed in both the zebra and the leopard rooms. So clean, fresh and the attention to detail is wonderful and lots of lovely touches that show how much care they give to their business - you will have a lot of fun finding all the themed items in the rooms.
Then of course there was Dave's breakfasts..... the works in terms of a full fry up, including fried bread and knowing I don't eat pork, beef and tomato sausages. Amanda's home made muffins, local preserves etc etc.
If you are lucky enough to stay at Impangele you will remember it for so many things. For us, Dave and Amanda are the most delightful hosts and we hope to sample your hospitaility again. Thank you for everythng, you are a fantastic couple, we wish you every success and hope to be back:-)

Thank you for the glowing review. I must say that working with Pete at Fynbus has really extended what we can offer here at Impangele, he has been able to openup the eyes of visitors who have not realised quite how much we have to offer in Swellendam and the surrounding area. It was lovely having you to stay, although now I am feeling under a great deal of pressure to create perfect muffins every morning!

One of the best places we have stayed at, not only in South Africa, but during all our 'world tours'. The breakfast is literally out of this world - ensure you don't eat during the previous 48 hrs! We stayed in the leopard room which was large, airy and cool. We spent an evening with Pete from Fynbus at Bontebok National Park (well worth it - Amanda can give you the number) and Dave very kindly lit the BBQ, I mean braii, for us for when we returned. Amanda and Dave couldn't have been more friendly or helpful, how this isn't a Lonely Planet 'Top Pick' can't imagine...enjoy!

If you are looking for a REALLY GOOD, affordable guesthouse, en-route from Cape Town to The Garden Route, then Impangele is IT !! The old saying goes "you get what you pay for in this world" - well not an Impangele ! You get a LOT MORE for yor money here. We stopped here for one night en-route to Cape Town & we were so glad we did. We were given a lovely warm greeting by the owners, Dave & Amanda & were immediately made to feel completely at home as we joined them & some of their friends for a braai, out on their lovely deck ! Dave & Amanda are originally from England & have created a truly African themed guesthouse here in Swellendam. The accommodation is beautiful, quaint & rustic all in one & the full english breakfast we had the following morning was simply 'THE BEST' breakfast we have had anywhere from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth ! If you are looking for value for money in good accommodation, you won't do better than this on the Southern Cape ! Take note all you lucky 2010 Soccer fans & anyone else who may travel this route !! Don't miss out on Impangele !!
