This is a wonderfull restaurant with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The friendly and competent staff complement the crackling fireplace and immediately puts one at ease.

The food, an interesting mix between slightly novel game dishes (crocodile sashimi featured as a starter) and the more traditional (lamb shank) was not only extremely well prepared but also presented in a manner that shows a great commitment to detail. Combine this with the wine list that is populated with excellent, but reasoanbly priced wines and you certainly have a restaurant worth visiting.

The cheff delivered the mains himself and I was greatly impressed by the springbok fillet that was served.

I would certainly recommend this restaurant to any serious food lover.

It is therefore a shame that the evening was marred by the rather poor treatment of our party of four at the end of the evening. We arrived at about 7:45 and completed a three course meal by about 10:30 on a saturday winters evening. By that time we were the only patrons left.We were presented with a bill without asking for same, while still enjoying conversation and while still contemplating some coffee and cheese. It became patent that the staff wanted us to leave and we started feeling presured to go. Shortly thereafter at about 11:00 we were unceremoniously asked to leave as the staff wanted to close the restaurant. This is truly dissapointing and unacceptable from an establishment that otherwise caters so well for the needs of its customers. I can only hope that this was an isolated incident and not the norm.

We ate on the veranda on a balmy evening - great!
The food was very good SA type dishes. Excellent steaks and game but limited fish - good for meat eaters. Portions were generous.
Wines were very good and reasonably priced.
We enjoyed our meal which was well cooked and presented. The service from the young waitresses was friendly and professional.

This restaurant was recommended by our hosts at Impangele B&B. They asked us if we wanted delicious food. Well, they were right, it was delicious. We sat out on the verandah on a lovely balmy evening and were waited on with good discrete service. Our friend from the UK was blown away by the Soringbok. entree.. Now weeks later he is still talking about it.

We thought this was one of our best dinners in S Africa. The food was very freshly sourced, we had the most tender steaks and game. The service was understated and efficient, and it is not trying to be really fancy, but had a lovely atmosphere for couples and families alike. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant makes a very good attempt to give authentic SA-food a touch of "nouvelle cuisine" and this was appreciated by us. Presentation of the food was nice and the waitresses were friendly and had good product knowledge of the dishes and wines.
Only minus was the (loud) background music ... in this dining atmosphere I don't think a complete Joe Cocker album was a good choice. I made a gentle remark to one of the waitresses about it, but to no effect. Not really a big issue, as the food was excellent, but still ... .
