We have stayed at the Cypress Cottage on several occasions and this review is long overdue.
This B&B is a classy and comfortable oasis in the heart of Swellendam, on the Route 62. It is one of our favourite destinations. We can recommend this stunning location, with wonderful personal customer service, to anybody looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay in picturesque surroundings. This is five star accommodation.

Room Tip: The rooms are all beautiful and comfortable.

My husband and I stayed here in october 2012.
We were impressed by the quality of the rooms. All the furniture was beautiful and cosy.
Even the bed had a eletric warmer.

The bath tub was awesome.

By the morning we were greeted with an amazing homemade english breakfast meanwhile we listened to good music.

The owner is a very educated and entertaining person and gave us good tips of restaurants.

We recommend this place to anyone that wishes to have an unequal experience.

Room Tip: downstairs room with antique bath tub

Cypress Cottage is a lovely place to stay if you appreciate the beauty and charms of old buildings, beautiful victorian style interior, stunning views and a clear example of excellent customer service. The personal customer service is what distinguishes Cypress Cottage from other B&B's. I have travelled through three continents and have been in many countries however this is something you rarely come across. Other businesses should pay a visit and learn how real customer service is done.

I have been staying with Etienne, Vera and Saskia for two times now and had a lovely stay. Very personal and homely atmosphere. We shared some good stories with the pleasure of quality wine and quality company.

I highly appreciate the hospitality and if I come back to South Africa I would definitely try to come and visit again.

What a great place to come to after a long drive from Cape Town to sit at the beautifull table in the kitchen with the great fireplace going and a glass of wine while waiting and chatting to Vera and Etienne while the pot of soup was brewing with fresh bread, cheese and jam for a light dinner. My room on the stoep was so private and warm with the electric blanket all set, it was a fantastic stay and beautifull town. Next time I wil stay a few days to enjoy everything Swellendam has to offer.

I had the pleasure of staying at Cypress cottage now recently on my business travels in Swellendam. What a lovely venue. Perfect setting under the trees. Was too cold to use the large pool but the views of the garden and deck were lovely.

The staff were always helpful and always had a smile.
The breakfast was a lovely spread. Bacon, eggs cooked to your choice, Sausage, tomato and mushrooms all plated in a very nice display.

Fantastic coffee was served as well with a option of teas and fresh juice and cereals. I had the pleasure of having a few lengthly chats with the owner Etienne who told me about the town and the history of the building.

I will be going back for sure.

Room Tip: Room 6 has a lovely deck and view of the mountain and trees and Pool

We stayed here on our drive from Cape Town to a safari at Amakhala in the Eastern Cape. Vera didn't seem that interested in us and we might have avoided some confusion if their daughter (?) had given us more information (where breakfast was, what the wi-fi password was) when she checked us in, but once we met Etienne he was a wonderful host and very helpful. Hint: walking out of the house, go left, right at the fork, and over the bridge to get to some restaurants and the museum complex. To the right, it's just some local shopping centers and grocery stores. This is deceiving because to the right looks busier and the place to go, and to the left you can only just see the bridge--but it's to the left you want to go.
