We have just returned from Bali today. We checked into Villa Jodie last Sunday night. We were very disappointed with the cleanness of the villa, as there was a black hair left on the toilet seat and the room smelled moldy. The 3 bedroom villa was small and pokey compared to other villas we have stayed in previously. The mosquitos were very bad, and our daughter was badly bitten. I do not believe that they carrying the fogging procedure often enough to combat them.

We were so disappointed that we checked out the next morning and moved to another villa.

I would not recommend Villa Jodie to anyone.

the location of our Villa was handy to good restaurants, but a 'clean',tolerable beach was a fair walk along very rough, narrow paths with the occasional large pot-hole. We stayed in Villa 1. It was excessively noisy as it ran parallel with one of Seminyak's busiest streets. Other Villas within this complex would be quieter. If you are staying for more than a week, you may grow tired of the same breaky choices, although the food was good. Explore the other end of the street for a good supermarket with Western food items, if that's what you like? You can buy your own fruit, veg & deli items plus other groceries. If it wasn't so noisy, we could have stayed at the Villa all day. Make sure the villa locks and keys are working. Occasionally they did not. However, we had no trouble with security.

I was amazed to see the most recent post for Villa Jodie when I went to submit mine. We just returned from a two week trip to Bali and I can honestly say that Villa Jodie stands out as a special highlight; and we stayed at great places throughout the region. After searching high and low in Seminyak for anything under $500/night that would meet our requirements, we stumbled upon Villa Jodie. The staff could not have been more friendly or welcoming. We secured a spot in the 2 bedroom (the second room remained closed off) and were sipping our welcome drink in no time. The leafy path guiding us to our villa set the stage for the tranquil stay we enjoyed while there. The villa is beautifully appointed and had everything we needed- from cds to rent and play in their sound system, fluffy towels, wi fi and more. There is, quite frankly, nothing that we have to say negative about this lovely property. Perhaps the other reviewer's villa was closer to the street. Ours was set back three from the street and we did not hear a peep except for the rustle of the trees above. The bedroom and bath set up is fabulous. It is designed minimally with an in/out shower with a gorgeous bath. Super luxurious and sexy without feeling 'resort-ey' like the other luxury properties in the area. We want to go back and bring a few other couples to share this 'secret' hideaway. I hate to even post as I would hate for it to be full the next time!! Thank you, Villa Jodie and the staff for a most romantic lovely evening in paradise. We hope to see you soon.

I stayed at the 3 bedroom villa with my spouse and 2 other couples in end Jul 2010.

Location :
The location of the villa is good if you want to be in the heart of Seminyak, along Jln Laksmana where are the eateries and shops are. Walking distance to small cafes and shops. However, the 3 bedroom villa is located RIGHT NEXT to the main road so there is significant traffic noise even at night. It would be a big problem if you are likely to be relaxing at the villa in the evenings (especially between 8pm to 10pm) on weekends because the traffic situation along Jln Laksmana becomes insane.

Villa :
The layout was compact, with 3 simple bedrooms opening out to the pool, and a small living and dining area to the left of the rooms. The rooms are pleasant and the bathrooms are large with generous natural light. Slightly musky though, possibly due to the slight dampness in the room. There were missing complimentary toiletries which had not been replaced when we checked in. eg. shower caps.

If you look closely, the rooms look a bit worn around the edges, with dark mouldy looking stains on the mirror above the bed, and aging furniture in the living space. The TV in the room is extremely small, to the point you would have to strain your eyes to watch it from the bed.

Living area and dining area, while not unpleasant, had a sense of age and neglect about it. The cushions were slightly dirty.

All the safes in the rooms were not working, btw. Pool lights were also spoilt though the staff did help to light some candles for us.

There is a general sense that the compound has aged without significant repair or extra attention to it, and that whatever was spoilt when we visited, will likely remain unfixed since they are small disturbances which most guests would not kick up a big fuss about, and which the villa can probably get away with.

It's definitely liveable and relatively comfortable, just not very luxurious, homely, or special, and it almost feels like the management of the villa has become complacent or lazy, content with a mediocre villa which just capitalizes on its central location for repeat visits. It's certainly not the cheapest option around so I would have expected better.

Food :
Don't eat the breakfast in the villa.
The bread is made of some strange starchy corn mixture, the ketchup and chilli bottles had mould on the underside of the caps. As there were 6 of us, we sampled almost everything from the menu, and other than the mee goreng, everything else was unappetizing.

Staff and Service :
Staff were pleasant and accommodating.
The villa arranges complimentary pick up and drop off service within Seminyak so that is very convenient. Strangely, our main villa door was unlocked when we got back in the late afternoon and I suppose the housekeeping staff had forgotten to lock it for us.

Overall :
Rather disappointing as the villa seems to have been resting on its laurels and has let some basic service standards slip. eg spoilt lights, spoilt safes, missing toiletries, worn furniture, very poor breakfast offer.

Since my last visit to Seminyak, Jln Laksmana has also become quite a crowded nightmare at night, so the appeal of staying at this location has significantly diminished, and along with it, any desire for me to come back to Villa Jodie for a repeat visit.

We had an amazing time, from the moment we were picked up at the airport and whisked away to the villa's to when we sadly had to pack up all of the treasures that we had bought in the fantatsic shops just up the road in Seminyak, and head home. It's hard to write about everything that made this such a wonderful get away, but what helped make this the most amazing trip was the friendly staff who would greet us by name, with a smile everytime we came or left the villa, the villa itself was so tastefully designed and decorated, the sarong (which i pretty much what lived in for the majority of our trip!) the little extras made it so special. So if kicking back in your own secluded pool surrounded by beautiful gardens and frangipani trees, with staff that deliver you fresh ice, beautifully cooked meals on order and then to come home after eating at the nearby restaraunts to a freshly turned down bed, then this is where you need to go. We loved it and will be making Villa Jodie our home for every trip!
