Stayed at one bed villa, quite a pleasant stay but just a slight waiting for my villa and a little fault on the blind at the bathroom being have to call the maintenance and considering the hotels just open so there are still things that need to be repaired and fix....

Enjoy the overall stay just the villa is not as spacious comparing to others and the location is superb, close to any restaurant in seminyak area....

Love the location and design...

Amazing hotel, brand new. Very well located in the well known Seminiak area. Lot's of restaurants outside the resort area. Wonderfull piscina and longe chairs. Beach walking distance to Kudeta bar & restaurant. "Wherever, whenever" / W guest service as it's commonly known, always there for us. Any question? A fast answer, the best recommendations. A huge security system, when entering the resort, and in the beach area. Amazing sunset by the pool. If visiting bali again, i'll definitly stay at W. What else....

We stayed this past weekend in a one bedroom pool villa and it was great. The pool was big and the room was well decorated and plenty big as well.
The food was expensive but very good and there are plenty of options nearby if you want to get away.
The service was very good. After we had trouble finding postcards, one of the employees went out and found postcards for us and brought them back to the room.
Our only real issue was that the room did not have hot water when we arrived, but the problem was quickly fixed.
Overall, this was probably the best hotel I have ever stayed at.

Arriving from one amazing hotel in Ubud, to the W Seminyak we were disappointed from the very beginning. Checking in, we were passed around and at one point forgotten all together. Eventually we informed the original women who was tending to us that we would appreciate she promptly finish our check in.
The room was cute, can't complain. We had an ocean view, and it is literally on the ocean so you always get wonderful sounds of the water crashing.
First evening we dined at the blue fish restaurant (?)( on the property), and once again the lack of service roared it's ugly face. Seems as though the only training that is provided to W's employees is how to upsell the overpriced alcohol. Absolutely no personal service or attention paid to detail.
Giving up on dining at the hotel due to lack of service, we spent the following four evenings at other fine quality restaurants and were quite pleased. Kudeta, and Metis to be exact and Metis was so outstanding we dined there several evenings.
Back to the W. Breakfast was great food, buffet or a la cart. I prefer not to buffet my breakfast so I asked the server for a few items. I observed he did not write anything down, and overlooked it the first time when he delivered me the incorrect item. Second time, wrong item, I asked him why exactly he didn't have a pen and paper? Lots of lack of communication and staff passing thing off to one another improperly. Like removing the cutlery but not replacing it, or bringing out two servings of one order.
On the second day we spent the afternoon by the pool and when we arrived back at our room, at 3 pm, our room had still not been cleaned. :(
Come on guys.
So basically I confronted the manager with all of my observations and felt as though it wasn't really my job to be training the staff on my vacation. I came there to relax and constantly had to repeat myself and hold people accountable, just to get the basic things, like the proper drink or a spoon.
However not all was horrible, there are some there really trying, and they should be commended for this. One of whom I think his name is Teddy, very friendly gentlemen who works for the area where people are checking in, was very enthusiastic and positive.

I could wax lyrical about the W for ages and swoon poetically but I won't. All the good stuff has already been said and for us, we didn't really get any of the negatives.

The only minor improvements to = perfection for us would be:
(1) Whatever/Whenever team need to answer the phone a little more quickly (but certainly didn't have the issues some others have written about); and
(2) The 'talent' manning the Wheels desk need to ensure one of them is always around for quick ordering of a taxi (I wouldn't normally be so fussy but this is big dollars a lot of people are paying to stay at this calibre of resort).

We got an absolute bargain which was 10/10 for value for money from wotif.com's Wednesday deal some time ago ($199AUD inc full breakfast, tax & service charges) for the lead in garden view room. When we arrived we were upgraded without asking to 2 Ocean View Rooms as they had the availability. WOW.

Everything, from the Bosse Sound System playing a CD on entering the room, the 40" TV, all the electronic input/outputs to plug your iphone, video camera, camera, laptop etc into to the Bliss bathroom products (LOVED these), to the monsoon rain shower which comes up under spotlight at night.... we could not fault any of it. LOVED the 'flying pigs' on the door to the balcony and the 'Wish' kaleidoscope by the bed; these made me feel quite whimsical and gave a touch of magic to the room. LOVED the retractable ceiling above the bathroom and the love heart light that appears in the mood lighting setting above the bath at night. Even the 'Back Up Plan' in the loo (a toilet roll inside a cute holder saying same...) was whimsical and a cute touch. The brand of teabags are phenomenal (seriously best tea I've had). Even has a torch in the cupboards as well as iron, board, clothing rack, safe, iron, etc. List just goes on forever.

Ok.. in the end I've raved on again. Just read all the other reviews that mention all the 'cool' and 'vibey' and 'on trend' stuff and you get the picture. Pool area amazing. All the bars and restaurants amazing. The lighting, the attention to details, the chandeliers, the lounging area's - all amazing. The attention to little details is also incredible.

The Woo bar reminds me of the Cafe Del Mar's (e.g like in Singapore). Very nice place to veg out for awhile whilst listening to mood music and the surf in the background. Make sure you go downstairs as well.

Day Spa and Plunge pools (inc in our price) and the gym are fantastic. ALL the public toilet area's within the W are worth peeping into... sounds crazy but they are! :)

The entrance at night is really beautiful (the cobblestones look impressive but the taxi drivers hate them - with good reason!).

Starfish Bloo is something to be seen with it's huge canary cages to eat inside of. We didn't unfortunately but that gives us something to do 'next time' we come.

I rated the 'W' as 4/5 for value as given it's 'average' price I think it is very expensive and the a bit overpriced (but I apply that to lots of 5 star places which just seem to charge like wounded bulls sometimes). For what I paid it was 'bargain of the century' and if that was the normal price for the room I had (around $200 a night) I'd give it 7* out of %!! :)

Last time I stayed in an exceptional room for the price was the Vie in Bangkok (rooms to die for) and I only paid around $65 a night for a soft opening special at the time (2 years ago) but it doesn't have the ambience and facilities of the W.

The 'Talent' we interacted with all have service with a smile perfected; they also have settled from the reviews on first opening and we felt their service was unobtrusive yet exemplary. Ambience is at a max at the 'W'.

Fee wifi with password given at start of stay. Worked a treat.

Well done to the management team, and to Ian the 'Director of Cuisine' at Fire - the breakfasts are extraordinary. We DON'T thank you at all for putting back on the couple of kilo's we'd lost earlier in the holiday though... :)

If we can manage another super special type deal to make it affordable for us we will be back and in tow with all our friends!

Tip for those wanting a few cheaper meals also: the first and second beach warungs immediately to your right if standing at the beachfront and pool area are great food esp the Sate's. Very cold beer too. Also Harry Juko's just outside resort to the right after exiting the long drive had a nice ambience and nice cocktails and food.

Room Tip: All rms looked similar; views are defining feature

From the arrival at the airport (yes, make sure you get the Visa Assistance, to ensure you don't have to face the 2 hour queue with the hoards) and transfer, you are made to feel very special indeed.
Arriving at W Bali is like arriving at the exotic lair of one of the super villains in a James Bond movie. The sense of arrival is unparralelled with a sensational landscaped driveway comprising of an expanse of water on each side of the driveway and flame lighting features which almost feels like you are arriving through the middle of one of the active Bali volcanos with lava spilling over edge (try to arrive at night). The lobby appears bathed in constantly shifting intelligent LED lighting. The only thing missing is the stainless steel, egg shaped monorail that no self respecting villain would be with out.
The welcome is complete with Bond girl glamour reception staff and stylised bellmen however no scarred bald guy in Mandarin collar suit with hairless cat was spotted. So if you can imagine this was the arrival, the rest of the stay was just as impressive.
The rooms have names like WOW, Spectacular and Extreme and as much as that sounds a bit affected, when you see the room it is actually apt. The view from our "Spectacular Ocean View room" was just that, so there is truth in advertising and well worth it. Being a W hotel the decor is naturally modern and all the quirky touches are there for W afficiandos to feel at home.
Likewise with W's focus on restaurants and bars this hotel does not fail to impress. The breakfast is a dream with an interactive buffet style complemented by the random flavoursome "handout" which were "Lobster Nachos", Belgian Waffles with Strawberries, Breakfast Burrito and in the name of healthy living there were Wheatgrass shots. The selections changed daily so for our 7 night stay it was never boring.
If you are staying over a weekend then the Sunday brunch is a must. The list of fare is far too extensive to list but there are many morsels of deliciousness to be savoured. We spent 2 1/2 hours in our own bamboo pod over looking the ocean, just grazing away with a lovely Italian Pinot Grigio thrown in for good measure (very sad but in Bali the wine is very exxy).
The location was terrific for us because we wanted to do nothing but relax all week, so we only ventured out to the bars and restaurants close by. The staff recommended a couple of stand out places as follows:
Potatohead Bar is next door - Spot on the cocktail selection - thirst quenching, long and icy during the day and knock outs for evening. DJ line up (especially the spunky Aussie lady at sunset) provided perfect tunes for the soundtrack to the holiday.
Sip Restaurant - Trad Froggie fare Michelin star quality
Sarong Restaurant - The highlight for dinner - showcasing the best Indo / Asia dishes in swanky surrounds.
Enough said I think. The holiday was exactly what we were looking for and all thanks to W Bali staff and Management.

Let's get it straight- It''s expensive but was it worth it? YES with a capital W!

4 friends (2 Swiss girls, 1 Swiss/Finish girl and 1 Aussie male) spent last weekend in 2 ocean view rooms with 2 very confortable queen size beds in each room and we all had a fantastic time. The view from our rooms of the unswimmable beach (strong currents) but beautiful ocean, stunning pool and designer grounds and cool bar were awesome. The room is spacious and very modern with a monsoon shower. The staff are very friendly without being overly so, the pool attendants were attentive. The breakfast buffet was great and staff very attentive. If there was any disappointment it was with the fact you didn't have the option to swim in the ocean or lie on the beach. But notwithstanding the designer sheik still felt warm and friendly. I would definitely stay here agin once I save up some more! ;)
