The spa is great, but go for well healed massage. It is so good. Stay away from Body bliss. It's only recommended for people who like it soft. I blame the staff there because they didn't clarify that. Other than that the spa is amazing, clean and awesome facility.

the hotel really rocks!!!!!the room is freaking cool as the pool and the woobar.... the only bad things are the WIFI is not working in the pool and the F&B at the pool is too expensive compared to KUDETA and POTATO HEAD....generally it really rocks

Had 5 nights here with another couple - for us, after avoiding Bali for 15 years. What a great place - uber cool design, but still capturing the best of the ocean, palms and breezes of the island. Rooms spacious, clean, well laid out and well appointed. Dining options aplenty in the resort, and just down the road some of the best restaurants in Bali.
However, the staff and their service was the stand-out. There is a temptation for some places to be too cool for their own good and lose sight of the importance of the human connection. This was where W really wins for us. The combination of Balinese friendliness and immediate attention to your needs was fantastic and sets it apart from other 5 star stays. Always welcoming, never intimidating - just wonderful people.
We will come again...

Room Tip: We had a room facing away from the beach - no problems with that (and less surf noise)

We intended spending our honeymoon in the Maldives, but I am so glad we changed our minds and went to Bali and Kuala Lampur. Our honeymoon was truly special and this is due to the wonderful talent working at the W Retreat & Spa Bali. I always thought South Africans were amongst the friendliest people in the world, but then you visit Bali, particularly the W, and feel like you're on another planet.

The W Bali management has been able to create the perfect balance between friendly, warm and informal encounters with clients, and yet still able to provide personal, prompt attention to any of your needs. I have stayed at other 5 star hotels before and was worried that I might be too relaxed for certain enviroments (I never dress up for breakfast :) ), but not at the W Bali. You always feel welcome.

If you appreciate good design, then the W Bali will exceed your expectations. All your senses will be delighted with the ever-changing lighting in the reception to the pleasant scents surounding the place. The backgroud music is so varied, yet still quite "chilled" and you will relax immediately.

We wanted to enjoy everything the W Bali had to offer and booked 5 nights in the marvelous one bedroom villa and two nights in the fantastic ocean facing room. If you don't have kids to worry about moving, I would recommend you do the same. Our bathroom in the hotel suite had a skylight and had glass for walls so we could enjoy the sea views while showering! The views from our suite were never ending and we throughly enjoyed it.

Our villa was private with a beautiful big pool and a romanic daybed. Inside, more delights await, with the latest finishings including a nice Bose surround sound system, which is also connected outside so you can relax and enjoy the music while swimming or lounging by the pool. Heaven.

The food at W Bali is delicious. Plenty of variety at breakfast, which we enjoyed at Starfish Bloo and Fire. Lee, the manager at Starfish Bloo and Indra, assistant manager at Fire made us feel very welcome and nothing was ever too much trouble.

A special thank you to Alam, who sought me out to say goodbye just before we left. Alam was always walkng around and speaking to guests about how he could make their stay more comfortable. Again, a good example of what service ought to be like. He also gave us plenty of tips for touring Bali and went out of his way to make our stay special. I also loved the little surprises we received for our honeymoon.

I must also mention friendly Rika at W Insider. She was always there to help with anything even curing a sore throat. Other people who made our stay speacial include Agus at the W Store and Ade (from Java) who served our food and drinks when we enjoyed our meals close to the reception areas. For me, this place was like enjoying a piece of heaven. The talent at W truly enjoy their jobs and try to improve everyone's experience.

All of this doesn't come cheap, and we have spent the same amount of money at other 5 star hotels, but didn't leave with the same sweet memories. I will definitely return to the W Bali retreat, and even sooner if South Africa wasn't so damn far away from it!

Thank you W Bali - best honeymoon ever!

Room Tip: Try the one bedroom villa with the pool and the hotel suites

Need a cool break. This the place.
Great villas, with awesome day beds and plunge pools.
Gym is great - so too the spa.
Starfish bloo for dinner and breakfast is fantastic.
Actually possible the best brunch in Bali if not Asia.
The Woo bar is fantastic on sunset - cocktails could be a little more contemporary but a fantastic way to watch the sun come down.
Have great Beluga vodka.
Only complain is the paths with limited lights and a really unstable surface.
Lobby is great overall we will be back.

This was our second time staying at a W property, the first time being in Singapore, which we were not happy with. We decided to give this one a try and stayed in a one bedroom pool villa for 3 nites in Feb 2014. overall i must say that the grounds are huge and relatively well maintained, however the same issue that was noted at W singapore was also noted here, looks like this is becoming a trend with the W resorts in Asia. Upon arrival to the hotel, we were brought to the checkin area and waited for our turn, however, after a while we realised that the check in area for villas were on the other side and then we had to re-queue and wait in line again. i was somewhat irritated by the fact that the hotel had obviously not co-ordinated our arrival, did not know where to drop us off to check in and also, that we had to wait in line (for a long time) in order to check in. the hotel seemed short of staff and at one point, the check in counter staff dissapeared from the check in counter and seemed to have brought the guests to their rooms rather than getting a valet to do so. very strange, esp since we are used to staying at the St Regis in Bali whereby the whole check in process is seemless (and at the same price). The pool villa did show signs of age esp the bathroom, outdoor area and bedroom flooring, the bath and vanity area were not cleaned to five star standards. Also, the bed faces the pool area, and the blackout curtains were not 100% blackout, which means that by dawn, sunlight is basically in your face. We ordered room service on 2 occasions, both times, we found the food very average. breakfast had a good variety, and it was only on our last day that we realised that breakfast for villa patrons were in a separate area with much more options etc. we were not told this at all during check in nor during our stay and we sought of stumbled on this ourselves. we did not use the main pool area as we had our own pool, which we loved very much, the villa was spacious and functional, but nothing to really shout about. the beach is a public beach so there are no private cabanas or deck chairs on the beach, it is within the hotel grounds instead, which was a pity. it is a long walk out from the hotel lobby to the main street, so we had to use a buggy and even from our villa to the lobby. but this was rather efficient and service was great. we tried the away spa, which was amazing, we had the full body massage which was heavenly, the spa is huge and the rooms very nice. the location of the hotel in seminyak is great, with fantastic restaurants and bars / cafes all nearby, that was one of the reasons why we chose this hotel in the first place. however, if you are expecting the 5 star royalty treatment, this one's not for you. i would recommend this hotel if you are in a big group of friends, and you intend to make your own fun. for couples who want to be secluded and expect to be pampered, then choose the St Regis instead cos this was a dissapointment to us.

W will knock your socks off. Take your breath away! If you have the $$ and can afford to stay there them dont even bother browsing, just book.

The quality of the hotels furniture, decor, lighting, design, just everything is impeccable. The staff bend over backwards to help you and the food and cocktails are world class.

W is more than just a hotel. Its an experience... and as if the hotel was not enough, the spectacular beach setting will just take your breath away.

Can't wait to go back. Seminyak at its best.

One thing I will say though is that if you have kids under 8 who love to go crazy and splash around in the pool you might want to split up your stay with somewhere a little less fancy. While W is kid friendly the clientelle are prodominantly wealthy couples and friends. Your 8 year old bombing into the pool and splashing some rich billionaires wife while she is sunning herself by the pool might not go down too well :)

ENJOY!
