My husband and I had never been to Bali and it was a last minute decision so The Wolas was only place available in villa style accommodation complex. We were worried it may be too far from main Seminyak shops, restaurant & beach areas but have been proven wrong! Yes you can't really walk to the beach but can to others but why walk when taxi so cheap. Go to beach in the free shuttle and taxi back or just enjoy private pool in villa. We had treatments at the wolas spa and good, food at restaurant good also - they'll room deliver at anytime and make anything you feel like. We just recommended maybe some more vegetarian and a coffee machine to get a latte etc thecomplex itself is small and very very quiet. It is set back over sunset road so much more private. In terms of trips etc get advice from reception but also check out own options. As with all resorts etc around the world they try to direct you to their contacts. Some of these are good but also good to be more adventurous! We looked at some of the villa resorts near the beach in Seminyak and theY look great but are large with many many more villas - more like hotel complexes with good locations. Seminyak has lived up to what we were told. If you like the goldilocks option and look for privacy, peace but still want to get out and about then the wolas is perfect!
Did it match pictures etc on website? Yes!
Are staff helpful but not overbearing? Yes!
Location? Not close to beach but easy taxi/shuttle
Food? Good at wolas and restaurants short taxi ride away
Would we come back? Yes we would. Possibly wolas for few days then somewhere else to break trip up and see more.
Oh! Special dinner out on beach - try the breeze at sembaya in Seminyak.

My family stayed here for 3 days. The villa is excellent. The private pool is nice. Food is good with enough variety. But be careful with the floor since some parts become slippery when the rain comes. Overall..we love this villa..

Very peaceful and well maintained villas. Ideal for couples who want a relaxed vacation.
Since we were on our honeymoon, we got a specially decorated villa, and a complementary honeymoon cake. The rooms were clean, and the bathroom was very spacious. The eating options were a bit disspointing. The restaurant closes by 10pm, and has a limited menu, so we relied on the Seminyak joints for our late bites. The villas are a bit out of the way from Seminyak, but cabs are easily available and quite cheap.

We loved this place. The staff are so helpful and happy without being too in your face. It is a little bit out of the way and will need to catch a taxi to the main street in Seminyak, they are so cheap tho. We found it very quiet, room in fairly good condition, food was ok on a Bali level. We have been to Bali 6 times now and stayed at Villa Air, Kayana and The Bale, I think Wolas represents the best value for money and would love to stay there again.

Room Tip: Avoid villa 10 its right opposite the restaurant and can get noisy in the breakfast times.

We were booked here for 3D2N and I must say the villa is in excellent condition. What I love most is the private pool. Overall, its worth staying except that the location is a bit out. They do provide private shuttle to places like Kuta etc. If you are looking for a nice quite villa to stay, this is the place. If not, stay elsewhere as there is pretty much nothing outside the hotel.

We stayed here for the last 2 nights of our holiday. I booked it online without realising where in Seminyak it actually was. It is located on the western side of Sunset Road which appears to be a cleared industrial estate. The business over the road from the Wolas is a large motorbike mechanic and the blue sky from our villa was interrupted by a 30 foot elevated mixing drum from a nearby concrete factory. The Wolas is nowhere near the rest of Seminyak.

After checking in we were given a tour of the villa, and what a thorough tour of the villa it was with the staff member even opening a cutlery drawer in the kitchen to point out some spoons. The place looked OK, however the steps leading into the pool were green from not being cleaned which isn’t a great first impression. There is definitely a lack of quality in the building finish in terms of cheap paint job, gaps in doors jambs, non functioning water feature etc. There is also no ipod dock for guests who brought their ipods so for our stay we had to make do with Channel V Asia with content including a high rotation of Singapore boy bands and all the latest on Taiwan's burgeoning indie music scene. There was also a mosquito problem (across the whole island) for which they provide mosquito coils as well as a Monday & Friday 'fogging' eradication program around the Wolas.
Inside the bedroom was a very comfortable bed in front of a second plasma TV. A mosquito net for the bed would have been great, but there wasn't one. The toilet had a very weak flush and a mild smell of sewer to it.

We only ate at the Wolas for breakfast. The meals were rather small and were accompanied by a thimble full of juice and also all of the other couples looked a bit weird so we opted out of eating dinner there.

I had a massage at the 'spa' which was probably the best I had in Bali. I asked for a firm massage and boy was she strong. If you decide to go, ask for the woman with the lazy eye, she's excellent.

After our two night stay we checked out to fly home. During checkout I think we were asked 37 times by various staff if we enjoyed my time at the Wolas which was probably a bit of overkill. You cannot fault the staff for effort, however there does seem to be a lack of basic training and the English ability of the staff can vary significantly.

The $15 USD fee for an Airport shuttle service is extortionate given that it costs a third of that using a taxi and other villas provide it free.

Many times(actually all times) when preparing your trip, unless you have a place you enjoy staying at in a particular city, you rely on reviews and photos. Most often than not, the photos are taken from a certain angle, with a certain contrast in tone and colour to make the rooms look pristine and welcoming - rightfully so mind you! But a lot of the times you are left disappointed the moment you step through the doors as it's never exactly what you expected from looking at the lovely photos you saw online. With The Wolas Villas & Spa the first words muttered from my mouth upon stepping in to our villa was, "it looks exactly like the photos".

The service was professional and accommodating yet were never over-bearing. I would politely like to dispute the claim from a reviewer below that the staff were "shifty". How is it the Wolas staffs responsibility to provide change which was not given by a taxi driver, when all they do is provide the service of calling cabs for customers? I had no problems whatsoever with the staff in any way, shape or form.

The rooms were clean, and spacious; I can not over-state how spacious the villa was. I was with my partner, and as much as we wanted to utilize the entire space of the villas, I still felt that there was just too much of the villa we never used, specifically the living room area. The bathroom was MASSIVE; thanks to Wolas I will continue to hear about wanting the same sized bathroom over and over again from my partner - I still to this day hear this from her! The bathroom came with a couples sink, so in essence the villa is a true couples haven.

I found the pools were clean, and I didn't find the pool deck as slippery as others mentioned - though it's possible that I took extra care knowing what I had read previously. We also found the pool spacious enough to swim and paddle around in, and we also noticed that there wasn't too much chlorine in the pools which was a good thing also.

In terms of the distances to other locations (Kuta beach), I would say it's not too far, but when you factor in the unpredictable(and often times adventurous) traffic it can seem much longer than you'd imagine. The costs for cab rides are extremely affordable and fair, and like mentioned above often times the cab drivers won't provide the exact change, but who really wants the coins anyway? So it is wise to break up your bigger notes, and always have small notes ready when traveling about at all times.

The only major negative which I'd bring up is in regards to the beds. The beds were very spacious, but due to (I'm assuming) the aging of the beds, there was a significant dent in the middle of it which my partner and I found discomforting at times. But in terms of comfort, pillows, air conditioning, and even the added touch of having your own water bottle system at hand, everything else was top notch!

If you want to stay at a location which isn't right in the middle of the hustle and bustle but close enough, and in need of some privacy, peace and serene surroundings, The Wolas Villas and Spa is the way to go. I look forward to going back again sometime in the future, and lets hope that not much has changed - well besides the beds.
