Laurent & Aprilita are delightful hosts. They run the villas as a family business, with his French influence and her Balinese background, they make a lovely combination. Laurent is enthusiastic about Bali and a mine of information, and always willing to help. We met their children on the first and last days, and they complete a lovely family.
The villa (we had #2) is very new, well kept, nicely furnished, and has an equipped kitchen with a cooker (we didn't use it), blender and coffee maker (a filter type - we gave it a good workout!). Nice touches are a decent flat screen TV in each room with satellite TV (unfortunately limited English language channels) and a whole lot of DVDs. The open plan living area has a good sound system and you can hook up your iPod.
The pool isn't huge, but the whole outdoor setup is well thought out. We loved the gazebo.
Laurent got us a scooter at +/-$3.50 a day! And petrol right next door is about 50c a litre! We only used the scooter locally, and mostly during the day. At night we used taxis - they are cheap as chips!
A previous reviewer lamented the distance to the beach. To put it into perspective, yes, the beach is not a quick walk away. Belharra is situated behind the Seminyak Villas and close the The Villas, both very good and expensive places. By comparison, Belharra is almost free! To get a villa near the beach, or on the beach, would cost 3 or 4 times more. BUT, to get to the beach, get a scooter if you're a couple, or get a cab if you're a family. If you spend more than $10 a day on commuting, you're not relaxing enough!
Belharra is fantastic value for money. It is a family run setup. It is totally self catering, but there are many eateries within a short distance. If you want a villa with butler service, then this is not for you, but if you want a lovely clean, new, well kept place with good accommodation and you're an independent type, I recommend Villa Belharra.

Room Tip: Villa 1 is bigger and a 3rd bedroom is being added. Villa 2 has a gazebo for daytime relaxation. As...

Me (Morgan) and my friend have been in Villa Belharra for 8 days in August. Laurent and April were very accomodating. The place is very quiet and lovely, exactly as presented by pictures. They supplied us with everything we need. I think this the perfect destination to relax. Everything was cleaned, spacious and tastefully decorated. Laurent and April...thank you very much!!!

We stayed in villa 2 for 5nights in June with our 18mth old son. Laurent and April were incredibly accomodating even providing toys for our son.
The villa itself is lovely, exactly as presented on the website, pool area is beautiful and we spent many hours lazing on the day bed by the pool.
The villa is located in a very quiet lane, so no traffic to worry about. Just a 5minute walk to bintang supermarket.
Thanks Laurent and April for providing us with such a lovely villa for our holiday! We will definitly be back!

Thank you Laurent & April for your hospitality and great service. Laurent was very keen to ensure we understood all the features of the villa eg stereo, dvd, satelitte tv. Lauent even supplied us with a local mobile to use with his number preprogramed
We had villa2 for a week in June 2012 and found it to suited us ( family with 2 kids) perfectly. We have stayed at a few villas before and found that this one has a natural relaxed vibe. The villas are well constructed and the open kitchen/living area predominantly constructed of timber and natural fibres. The pool is sparkling clean and the shade hut is a nice touch. The bedding is comfortable and the hot water is solar but was always piping hot except early morning. The open air bathroom with pebble floor and edged in greenery fits in well.
The villa is off the main road up a private alley but we found this provided a nice quiet enviroment. we would walk to Bintang supermarket in 5 minutes.
I want to make a second thankyou to Laurent & April who were invisible but seemed to be around whenever we needed to talk to them. By far our best experience.

Room Tip: Take the business card with you the first time you venture out as the villas are new and not well kn...

From the wonderful Laurent & April to the absolute peace and serenity of Villa 1 this is the perfect holiday destination to chill out and relax. The rooms are clean & spacious & tastefully decorated. The bathrooms are a treat, partially outdoor. The pool was a delight and was used day and night. April & Laurent keep the villas pristine. The shops were a 5 to 10 min stroll (who wants to hurry in Bali) and we never went near the beach, we had our own pool!!
The nearby restaurants were good value as usual. Laurent gave good advice on some of the nearby eateries. Value for money for staying here. Laurent and April were always helpful, never pushy as another review stated and would be ever so quick to fix any little issue or explain the workings of the villa. There were 2 of us staying with our own rooms and plenty of space I cannot recommend more highly Villa Belharra and Laurent & April and their beautiful children. We will definately be back for at least another 2 weeks. Robyn & Sharron.

Room Tip: villa 1 is the bigger of the 2 villas available and has the 2 beds each room. The larger of the 2 ro...

I stayed with my wife and 2,5 y-old son for 2 weeks in March at Villa Belharra on our first visit to Bali. We felt absolutely comfortable in the villa with all the facalities and stuff needed for a family. But what's of most importance is the owner, Laurent who helped us during the whole stay, or just being around. Very special family-to-family connection.
The location is well situated in the beginning of Seminyak, short walk to Bintang supermarket and restaurants. It's quite off the beach, like 25-30 minutes normal walk, but we didn't find this too disturbing.
Hope to be back one day!

I wanted to love Villa Belharra (especially after paying $175.00 per night for 4 nights over New Years), but only found it average for the price. The positives were; It was very spacious, beautiful and had the most comfortable beds I slept in during my 3.5 week in Indonesia. It was also handy having a kitchen to whip up breakfast or snacks.

The negatives: It may have been worth the money for a family of 6, but wasn't good value for the 3 of us. Its quite a walk to the beach (probably 25 mins) so we found ourselves taking cabs or motorbikes. Towel and bedding changes were supposed to happen every 2 days, but it didn't happen until day 3 for us (maybe because of New Years?). The water cooler was pretty much empty when we arrived so we had to leave a note for the owner to refill it as they weren't home.

Booking our room was also a huge hassle. They do not accept credit cards and a deposit is required in advance (Euros only). We live in Canada and paying our deposit in Euros and via an international money transfer cost us $40 at our bank. We then had to order additional Euros through our bank so we could pay our balance in cash when we arrived. Pain in the butt!

The owner was also fairly insistent that we should rent our own motorbikes to get around. He brought it up on several occasions and was quite persistent about it (he knew some guy that would rent them to us). He knew we didn't have international drivers licenses and advised us to just pay off the police if we got pulled over. He even advised us on how much we should pay the police! We would have killed ourselves (none of us 3 girls had ever driven a motorbike before) and all guide books and travel advisories warn not to do this (unless you're experienced, have an international drivers license and are comfortable in crazy traffic).
