“The worst thing about this place is LEAVING”
Reviewed 19 May 2012

My wife and I have just returned to Adelaide after spending 20 sensational days and nights at La Villais and as the heading says the worst thing about our stay was coming home. We have been to Bali many times and stayed in resorts including the Padma, Nusa Dua Beach, Ramada Bintang and whilst all these palces were great, La Villais was something special.

We booked online, which was the first time we had gone down this path, and when we requested email confirmation of our booking and airport pickup service we got a reply within a couple of hours (not next day or the day after but within 2 hours.....thank you Marcel). This made us feel extremely comfortable from the outset.

You will read many comments regarding the helpful staff, privacy in the spacious Villas, the breakfast, the immaculate grounds and all we can say is that we can't wait to return.

If you want guest interaction around a swim up bar, be close to the beach or close to the many night clubs this may not be the place for you - however, if you want a spacious villa with your own pool, fantastic staff, privacy and not be hassled with the everending sound of "transport, transport, watches, watches, special price, you come look" then you WILL enjoy La Villais.

Some people will find fault with anything. Prior to booking we read about the breakfasts, the mosquitos, mould and stained sheets. Please do not be put off with these comments. The breakfasts were fine, not great, but the staff certainly went out of their way to make sure you got want you wanted and they were certainly a lot better than the breakfasts we make ourselves at home. The mosquitos - not an issue. Mould and stained sheets - here I repeat my comment where some people will find fault with anything.

Mea, Eddy, Marcel and the many other wonderful staff we thank you - you made our stay in April/May 2012 a fantastic event.....and to the males who read these comments, my wife enjoyed the privacy of the villa soooo much she didn't go out and spend nearly as much on clothes, markets etc as she has done in the past.....now that has to be a winner.......

On a final note, we ate our dinner at Nirvana, Rumours and had room service a few times. The Surf and Turf at Nirvana was the best we have eaten ANYWHERE (even in Oz), cooked exactly the way you ordered and only AUD$10 - everything we ate there was great and you certainly couldn't complain about the $1 Bintang during happy hour (11am to 7pm). The room service at the Villa was equally impressive - certainly not overpriced for what we had.....total cost for a large meat lovers pizza (8 slices) and a sea food platter was approx $15 and extremely enjoyable.

As you can see we thoroughly enjoyed our 20 night stay, would definitely stay again and would definitely suggest others experience this little wonderland.

I have just checked in and am supremely disappointed. The villa is fine and clean but definitely not worth the $200 per night I am paying. I have seriously considered trying to find elsewhere and ask for a refund for the next 2 nights I have pre-paid for. Apart from having a private pool I don't think the price is at all justified. I am travelling alone but still find the villa small. There's about 1 metre from the pool to entrance/bedroom/living, and its surrounded by concrete walls - feels a bit like some kind if compound. The staff are uninterested. When I arrived they had not charged my card as per email correspondence. Staff also told me how to arrange airport transfer, which again I had done previously via email but they had no idea about. There is nothing wrong with this place but $200 a night - I'm sure you can find better.
Not sure how this ranks so highly on TA - I booked based on reviews here and am sorely disappointed.

I don't now anyone can complain about anything here. The villas are immaculate, the service is amazing. Everywhere you are met with a genuine smile.
As some examples of the service, the free shuttle to kuta was full so they called and paid for a taxi for us. Another day we slept in and missed the (already generous) 10:30am breakfast cutoff. We walked down about 10:40 expecting to be told we has missed it. They said no problem and the chef offered to cook us an omelette.
The villas are large and just like in the pictures (bigger even).
My girlfriend has been to bali 15 times, staying in top resorts, and says this is the best place she's ever been. They do a great job of mozzie control too - almost none here - a big contrast to other places.
The only minor issue is that there is quite a long walkway (about 300m) from reception to the furtherest villas.
Overall great place.
The location is about 400m from eat street
Our villa was large and spotlessly clean.

What a great location for these lovely villas. As others have said, they are spacious and well laid out with friendly staff and great facilities. Athough some posters have mentioned mould, or chipped furniture, we didn't have any issues with this in our villa which was cleaned perfectly every day, along with the pool, no matter what time we were out. We did have mosquitoes which are sprayed and fogged regularly (but - it is a tropical island so mosquitoes are everywhere!). There is a nice wide lane to take the short walk to Eat Street - and don't miss the fabulous Japanese restaurant just before Eat Street with their great food and generous happy hours (great cocktails!) and the good coffee near Seminyak Square from Grocer and Grind. The spa is in a really handy location and well worth popping in for a massage or two.

We were really happy with our choice of accommodation but there are a few little areas they could improve on.

- I don't have high expectations of breakfasts in Bali but this was one of the most disappointing I've come across. The staff are lovely but the food selection doesn't really go... and I'm more than happy with a nasi goreng but there were only some unexpected western food choices (like chicken nuggets, or soup). Also we got the hard sell to attend a themed dinner each morning which was a little frustrating.
- There was construction on behind our villa from around 8am-5pm which was a little noisy but we are early risers so wasn't an issue. I would however have liked to know about it as when the workers were on the roof one day they could see right into our courtyard - quick towel readjustment required!

I would recommend these villas.

Our long awaited stay at La Villais has just come to an end.. This was a trip to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary... We were so impressed with the staff, their dedicated service, the villas were perfect, clean, (no mould) well appointed with king size bed and the pool right outside our bedroom door!! Absolutely sublime.. Complete privacy, these villas are ideal for those looking to have your own pool and plenty of space to chill.. Breakfast, variety everyday a mux if asian and western, thoroughly enjoyable delicious omeletes made to order.. Adella Spa, lovely relaxing massage and facial finished with herbal tea and a little cake.. Location, 5 minutes walk to seminyak's eat street,10 minute walk to markets, 20 minute walk to the beach, we cut through Ku De Ta, we enjoyed our daily wonderings all over seminyak ending with our beach walk before returning to our pad at La Villais for an afternoon in and by the pool.. Will definitely stay here again.. If you want privacy and your own villa this is ideal... If you want the beach location and like hanging by the resort pool then stay in a resort... This place is a little hidden gem that you would easily expect to pay top dollar for in Far North QLD!!! We got a bargain on wotif... Special thanks to reception staff, Mea and Mike, you provide excellent customer service along with rest of your team. Mea congratulations in advance on the upcoming birth of your baby .. We hope to see you all again next May... Jane and Stuart villa 10 :)

We stayed here for 6 nights in April at the one bedroom villa. Great size villa and pool it is just unfortunate the outside wall has mould everywhere. We thought the villa complex was older because of this but then found out it's only about 2 years old.

Room: decent size and the mosquito net does help at night, although we didnt see much mosquitos compare to other places. When they do the turn down service, they spray the room with mosquitos spray as well. There are 2 airconds, 1 in bedroom and 1 in bathroom. They both work very well & keep the room nice & cool.

Pool: decent size and clean. We stayed at villa no. 17 and the pool/outdoor area get plenty of sun in morning & afternoon.

Service: the staff is friendly and always greet you with a smile, although we found the staff at front desk is not really helpful when you inquire about tours/activities. They told us (with a smile) to go to one of the tour companies outside. We ended up booking a car with a driver for a day (cost us around AUD40) and told him where we wanted to go. He suggested places to visit as well & speak good English. His name is Agus and his contact: +62-812-366-9322. We will definitely use him again next time we are in Bali.

Food: breakfast is buffet style at the restaurant with eggs and pancake station. It was decent breakfast but we found coffee was a bit weak and inconsistent.

Location: It is about 5 minutes walk to the main strip in Seminyak, which is not too bad. If you are looking for a local place to eat, go to Warung Murah. Good food and cheap. Potato Head and Kudeta are only a short taxi ride too.

Will we go back to La Villais again? maybe no, simply because there are many other villas around the area.

Room Tip: ask for villa closer to the front otherwise be prepare for a long walk. Also ask for villa that gets...

My wife and I have been to Seminyak 3 years in a row. On our last two trips we stayed at 3 star villas as a cheep holiday was a factor. After staying at the 5 star La Villais I will not stay 3 star again. The extra $100 aus per night is money well spent. This place is well worth it. The private pool in the villa is perfect. The location is down a short lane next to Ultimos which could not be better. Quiet, convenient and very friendly staff. After a few days here you will want to come again. This time of year is perfect as it is not as busy as August which is when we normally come to Bali. The weather is also cooler but still hot enough to swim and enjoy cold bin tang. If your over 40 and want to eat, drink and relax with your partner then stay here, you won't be disappointed.
