“Gorgeous villas, superb staff!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2013

We were spoilt for choice at Seminyak, given the sheer number of boutique villas available at every turn. Glad we chose La Villais.
Our villa was the 'A' type initially. But when I phoned the reception and asked for the 'B' type, they immediately shifted us. It was an absolute dream stay being able to sit on the day lounger and dip my feet into the cool water. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his morning swim too!
There was some major renovation underway and that was a slight disappointment, else the hotel was gorgeous. Yes, it desperately needs maintenance but the beauty of the villa and the super helpful front desk staff make up for the shortcomings.
The downer was breakfast. They need to have fans in the breakfast area as its open and vulnerable to flies n mosquitoes. Not very happy with that.
Other than that, the place by itself is amazing. Good location..close enough to the main road and far away from the noise.
Agree with the previous reviewer that it will be excellent next year, after renovation.

Room Tip: Choose the B villas .. better designed!

We love it . It was our second time staying here. The staff were amazing and helpful . We had noisy neighbors and they moved us away to another villa.the were so helpful.breakfast was great and again the staff so friendly . Some even remembered us from staying 2 years ago. It's so close to all the restaurants . Love it . But just be aware they are now starting to renovate / construction to make way for a hotel type resort and will pull down some of the villas for thAt. So just before you book enquire on that. We stayed until 8th August 2013 and they were just starting to get prepared for the renovation.they say will take one year. Can't wait to come back when it's done!!!

We have just spent 4 very pleasant days at La Villais in one on the 2 bedroom villas. Each room was lovely and the other villa facilities were great. Breakfast was average, although perfectly adequate. Ask the chef to cook you either an omelette or a banana pancake - both very tasty. We were very impressed with the shuttle service and didn't experience the issue of a previous reviewer about being ask to pay for a second shuttle. On the contrary, on one occasion, when we asked reception to book a taxi, they immediately offered to take us to our not too distant destination.the rooms are very well serviced and appointed. So why do I advise to give it a while? Well, 2 days before we left (6 August 2013) a renovations and extension programme commenced and we were told that it would continue for a number of months. In summary, therefore, recommended highly but check to find out the state of play re the renovations. A big thank you to all the staff who make you feel so welcome but especially to Edy who was entertaining, knowledgable, humorous and the best driver in Bali!!!!

Advertised as "shuttle to and from airport" but we found out that it is in fact "to OR from airport". We booked the free airport transport when we arrived and was declined when we wanted transport on the way back. If we wanted transport to the airport we would have to pay RP100,000 which was way higher than calling for a taxi.

"Free shuttle" to the Kuta area was also falsely advertised. Shuttle was by private car and only "available" at 10am, 12pm and 3pm. Even so, when we asked, no shuttle was available as their drivers were driving customers to and from the airport or on one of their very over priced tours.

When queried about the advertising I could hear the reception staff Kartika complaining to her colleagues in front of me but in Bahasa Indonesian. What she didn't know was that coming from South East Asia I understood every word she said.

Breakfast was average with hard bacon and fruit flies around the selections. We were also bothered by big flies at the sitting area, easily 10 of them at any one time.

We loved the villa in itself though. Beautiful rooms, very luxurious, great private pool, extremely clean. Just felt cheated by the advertised transport services.

We had a great stay at La Villais. Our villa was only 3 down from the restaurant so it was nice and close to the reception area, but not too close. Each villa was exceptionally private - our own private oasis. We loved it! Pool was a great size and was clean and well maintained. The pool had sun until about 3pm. It was still warm without sun. Bed was super comfy and spacious. Staff were friendly and eager to please. The rooms were cleaned really well every day and sprayed for bugs every night. The villas are only a short walk to the main eat street where there are plenty of choices. The reception staff will call you a taxi if you want to go further out. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing and private romantic holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to reception/restaurant unless you don't mind walking.

We stayed at La Villias for 4 nights in early June 13. We were in Villa B12 right next to reception. This was good because some of the rooms are a fair walk to the reception. We thought it might be a bit noisy, but no, not a problem. Every thing was excellent - staff very friendly, rooms clean, breakfast good, great private pool and only a short 4 minute walk to the main street. No problem with bugs or mossies. Only one thing seemed out of place - the condition of the road outside reception. Full of pot holes and a mess after heavy rain, but then the footpaths on the main street of Seminyak are dangerous as well.

Room Tip: Private pool is fantastic (never seen the wife in the water so much) Rooms B12, 14 etc are close to...

We stayed here for 7 nights in June. Overall we had a great time. A few minor improvement points to take the villa from very good to great.

Pros
- Very friendly staff and service
- Spacious villa, great sized pool and good level of sunlight (we stayed in Villa 14 which is quite close to reception and the breakfast area, but not at all noisy)
- Location - just a few minutes walk to Eat street, the lane way is next to Ultimo Italian restaurant
- Nightly turndown service and spray of the room to get rid of bugs
- Large outdoor living area with large water filter (hot/cold water) and large fridge. Two bottles of water were also supplied daily.
- Small library at reception
- Our flight was late in the evening. We were able to use the room for a short time longer before checking out, and staff were more than happy to let us use the spa facilities for a shower in the evening
- Bed was large and comfortable, had a mosquito net

Cons:
- Hot water in the shower was temperamental, alternating between scaldingly hot to warm every few seconds. Water pressure was poor.
- Breakfast options and quality were not great, we stuck to the eggs made to order and fruit. The hot options seemed stale and always seemed like they had almost run out which wasn't appetising.
- Free airport transfers and shuttle around Seminyak/Kuta weren't well advertised/communicated (we made our own way from the airport, but it was great to use the service on the way back to the airport as not many taxis go by)
- Poor lighting in the bathroom, toilet didn't flush well
- Free wifi was really handy, but the signal was temperamental and you need to fully log in each time your device idles
- Spa services were upsold every morning at breakfast
- A couple of funny design things: glass sliding door between bedroom and bathroom/toilet with no blinds (okay if you're not shy!) and another glass door exiting the villa let in a lot of light early in the morning (curtain/blinds would be great).
- Body lotion wasn't supplied

Room Tip: Request a villa close to reception to avoid a long walk
