liked the coffee and cake at the gourmet deli. Good selection of cafes and close walking distance from most hotels

Don't allow yourself to get cheated! Huge scam!
If the exchange rate is slightly higher than other places, without any mention of a license number/name/some sort of identity, and the money exchange is down a dingy alley or in a small shop - do not go there! Typically, there are several such outlets in close proximity to each other.

We went to two such outlets, and both tried different tricks to cheat us.

1. There are two people - one who welcomes you and one at the counter. They start with polite conversation.
2. They issue small denomination notes in rupiahs to make it a big bunch of currency notes
(so that you will not notice when some disappear).
3. The notes are counted and placed on the counter in front of you.
4. Then he asks you for either some change or tries are distracts you by offering higher rate for a specific serial number series or asks for the bunch from you for him to count. Here is when he will try and slip in a couple of notes back in to his draw or keep a couple of dollar notes with him.
5. He gives you the back the bundle of notes and slips out of the counter. Now only the guy who welcomed you is there.
6. When we caught his sly, he gave us some rubbish saying the rate is lesser for small dollar notes.

NOTE: ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU DO THE LAST SET OF COUNTING AND DO NOT GIVE THE BUNCH BACK TO HIM. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU COUNT THE DOLLAR BILLS FOR EXCHANGE CAREFULLY BEFORE HANDING IT OVER.

Except for the crinkle cut chips upstairs at the sports bar. This place didn't really appeal to me. Just that there is a lot more out there to see and do and eat. Although the sports bar is good to catch up on some Aussie tv/sports. Small markets and a few cafe/bars.

Just the general Seminyak area is a great place to shop , eat and wander around.

Lots of great boutiques , jewelry shops and fun eateries.

Not too noisy or crowded....

Good fun.

Like most of Seminyak it lacked the 'traditional' feel of shopping and bartering that we were there for. That is part of the experience that is Bali, and we felt that all these glass fronts were just not 'it'. We can go in to any Westfield or Stockland anywhere in Australia and get the same thing. Felt it was just soulless.
