“Vila Lumbung-fantastic pool area”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

Loved the large room (lumbung) we were in with our large king bed. Had a problem with the noise from the downstairs tv being too loud as the door connecting up and downstairs is ridiculously thin and made from frosted glass. The pool area is fantastic, a huge area with lots of chairs. Needs a bit of paint on the villas to freshen them up and the gardens need a little attention. Brekkie was the usual, ordinary-nothing special. We had a motor bike so it was easy to get around. Lovely hotel that needs a little bit of tender love. Also, wifi was painful, needed to keep logging in and at times unable to.

Room Tip: Try and get a ground floor lumbung

We have stayed at the villa Lumbung several times - the staff are great, and it's well located. The hotel is getting a little old however, and could do with some maintanence. We had problems with the air conditioning not cooling and had to swap rooms twice. Do not stay here if you are needing a wifi connection during your holiday - the hotel does have wifi but it is extremely slow and constantly drops out. The breakfasts are adequate, and the pool area still one of the best around for the price.

This hotel is good for the price, it is in a good quiet location close to some of the best restaurants such as Sarong. The gardens are beautiful but the paving around the pool takes rustic to a new level. Like other reviewers our room was not ready and we had to stay in a family room for the night with an outside bathroom. I understand some people like the idea of an outside bathroom but showering at night with the mozzies, lizards and frogs is not for me. The manager was arrogant and unsympathetic and treated us like ungratefuls because whilst our room wasn't ready we had been "upgraded". ... To a room we didn't want. Not only was the room not what we booked, I feel sorry for any family that did stay as the so called kitchen was a bunch of grotty old cabinets and a microwave. We were given a lunch voucher as compensation. This equates to about $15AUS. When you arrive at a hotel hot and tired the thought of unpacking and then packing up to move rooms is not fun.

I have to say the room we moved to was great. In a great location and very comfortable. Linen was great, clean etc, bed was very comfortable. I agree with other reviews that the food was ordinary but given the location why would you eat in this hotel, there is so much to choose from that is either walking distance or a cheap short cab ride. Again like other reviews when the people in the upstairs vila closed their entry door, our door shook so loudly it woke us up every time.

We had a massage in the hotel spa, the massage itself was great but the facilitates were very ordinary. The towels were threadbare and grey.

Tip, if you want a decent cup of tea ask the staff to make you one with a fresh tea bag and leave the tea bag in your cup. I watched the staff make at least 12 cups of tea with the one tea bag.

Apart from the manager I found all the staff friendly and helpful.

Whilst this doesn't sound like a great review, you have to look at the cost verses the negatives. Would we stay here again, maybe but purely on cost and location and we would be specific about what room we stayed in.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of hotel. Pool side rooms get too much foot traffic.

This is a really great place to stay in Bali. Staff are great, very friendly and happy to help. Great pools and my favourite is the pool bar. Its not right in the middle of the action so is quiet, BUT not too far either its a brief walk or bike ride to the main section of Seminyak and has lots of great places to eat within walking distance of the main gate. There is a great laundry just outside and to the right of the hotel really cheap and very good. We have always stayed there over the New Year Period and had great New Year Eve events there. Highly recommend this place for families. AAA+++. They also have rooms for singles and couples. Every room is clean and well maintained.

Room Tip: The bungalows either upstairs or downstairs are perfect for families.

Wonderful staff and beautiful grounds. The Superior room I was in could have had better air conditioning, but I had a lovely stay anyway. In a very peaceful area of Seminyak, 10 minutes shuttle ride to the shopping precinct and 10 minutes walk to Potatohead Beach Club.

Nice rooms, good price, nice pool. Great staff, very good breakfast. We loved it..
Definitely recommend. The outdoor bathroom was lovely but also sealed and that meant there weren't too many bugs inside. We travelled a lot around Bali and this was one of the hotels that were better value...
