Having read the reviews I expected more. The staff are great the hotel is tired and the rooms are basic. The stairs in the duplex are dangerous and the airconditioning is not good enough for a roof top room. For the price of this you can do so much better in the area.

Puri Cendana is small resort in a great location, right next door to the Sofitel and just a 50m walk to the beach. It is at the quieter end of Seminyak, but walking distance via the beach to restaurants and shopping. Turn left at the beach entrance for Legian, and right to get to Seminyak. Taxi trips take a lot longer because of all the traffic and congestion on the roads, but are alot cooler in the heat of the day!
The pool is not all that big but the kids loved it and the pool-side restaurant was perfect for brekkie, snacks and meals. The pool-side massages were wonderful too!
We walked along the beach almost every evening to enjoy the sunset and decide where to eat that night. The Ku De Ta is walking distance as well as La Lucciola for more expensive outings, or the Mano Cafe for a lovely beachside dinner on the less expensive side (next door to La Lucciola). Take your Aeroguard/bug spray!

Great Location close to the sofitel and the black sandy beach (be careful the stream is strong).
Service: Nice welcome at the reception
Room: Large room with A/C, TV and hot water but no safe deposit box
Bathroom was humid and some and the shower head was in iron so as soon as the water gets hot you can't hold it as it was very hot. Moreover the water was hot for a couple of minutes and then cold and so on.
pool and restaurant: Nice small pool not to busy
We check out early morning so the send us a breackfast box on the nigh time so the bread and croissant were not very fresh
Overall correct hotel if you stay for a shor period

This was the first of 4 hotels we stayed at in Bali during our 10 day stay, and definately the best. The location - a 3 minute stroll to the beach, was ideal. The pool area, though small, was tranquil with a water feature and lots of greenery, and the cafe is next door for breakfast or lunch by the pool. I thought the breakfasts were good, you could have eggs any way you liked, fruit and pastries, or pancakes, and having breakfast round the pool was a great start to the day. The hotel gardens are lush, service was good and our room was great - large, dark and cool with traditional furniture. It also had tea and coffee making facilities and drinking water was left for us every day - the only of the 4 hotels to do that. For US$50 a night it was very good value.

On our return after visiting Ubud and Nusa Lembongan we would have liked to stay there again but it was full, so we stayed at the Bali Agung close by, but it wasn't quite as nice.

We booked for a superior room at US$45/night for 4D3N initially but we fell in love with Seminyak Beach that we extended our stay for another 3 nights.

Our room was at the ground floor so we had a terrace instead of balcony. Room was spacious, clean & very Balinese. I loved the glass-walled bathroom & the huge ceramic bath tub. And we liked it that each time we returned to the hotel in the evening, our room was already cleaned. Pool was not that big but fun enough to take a dip.

The hotel's location was good. Seminyak beach was less than a 5-min walk. We were approached a few times by people promoting stuffs & transportion but we were ok with that. Seminyak beach was awesome but we were irritated by peddlers selling stuffs & offering massage and mani/pedi services. After a long run, we managed to ignore them nicely and enjoyed the sun, sand & sea.

Breakfast wasn't that great. We had the same food every day consisting of either American breakfast or fried noodles with coffee/tea and fruit juice. But with a lil' walk to Jalan Abimanyu, there's a whole stretch of restaurants, salons, internet cafe & not to mention pubs and night spots which opened late evening. We didn't really eat there cos most of the time, we either bought junkies from a nearby supermarket or we joined our friends for dinner at Kuta.

We loved our walk to Kuta. If I can recall correctly, it took us between 30-45mins per walk. If you think its rather far, you can ask the hotel to get a can/minivan for you (or even flag your own) at 80,000 Rupiah per way (the same amount we paid for our one way airport transfer).

Overall, we loved this hotel. Do take note if you are terrified of dogs cos the hotel had many of them playing and running around in the premises itself. But they were harmless and didn't bothered us that much. Think again, it's Bali. There are dogs everywhere :)

The kids loved this place. This was the first place we stayed on our trip to bali and the best! Even though it is located on a busy road it is a quiet oasis. We had a 2 storey room so kids were downstairs (we paid for extra beds) and we had our privacy upstairs. Only 50 mtrs walk from seminyak beach for sunset drinks, and good shopping in walking distance. The massage by the pool was the best massage we had all trip! Make sure you get a reflexology foot masage as well as a full body!! Kids can swim in the pool while you get pampered. Food in hotel restaurant OK, but if you want good indonesian go elsewhere. The pool is a small, but the kids loved jumping in from the waterfall. We were really happy with the value and location

We came to the hotel a Wednesday night in April. We hadn´t booked anything in advanced so they told us that they had one room for one night. We night me able to stay longer but they didn´t know that until the following morning around 10. The night guard at the reception couldn´t answer any questions so it was kind of hopeless. We stayed for that night, the hotel room was very nice, it was a master. The service at the hotel is quite poor. The night guard doesn´t know much and can´t answer many questions. He doesnt speak that good english and same lever when it comes to understanding. The hotel itself is very nice. Beautiful pool, rooms and the surroundings. The service in the hotel resturant wasnt very much to speak off either. It was rather slow, and the waitresses just couldnt find it to smile. They didnt bother coming to your table once you sat down, even when we were the only one there. It always took a very long time. You almost had to ask them to come. We had 3 different bedrooms during our stay. We stayed for one week. The other rooms were nice as well. One thing to complain about when it comes to the rooms were that the doors into the bathroom, we werent able to lock (this applies for as many as two of the rooms) But it was a nice hotel and you got a lot from the price. But if you can find a similiar hotel with better service, even better. The hotel was a 2 min walk from the beach which was perfect as well.
