Yet again we returned to The Samaya, and yet again we were made to feel as if we were the only people who mattered to the entire team. It is such a very special and wonderful feeling these extremely helpful, smiling people impart. If we asked for the moon we are sure they would try to oblige! The current building works, within the luscious grounds, is well hidden and certainly doesn’t detract from the overall ambience. Cocktails and dinner at Breezes restaurant, as the sun sets, is truly breathtaking. We often asked ourselves why we kept venturing outside of ‘paradise’ because within a short period of time we found ourselves scampering back to our private villa to relax before once again meandering down for yet another yummy cocktail. Give The Samaya, a try. We guarantee it won’t disappoint. Roll on our next ‘Samaya fix’.

This must rate as one of the best hotels anywhere. We cannot think of anything to complain about. There are great hotels around the world but the staff make this one of the best. Everyone is friendly, polite and nothing is to much trouble. Despite the ongoing building works there is no noise or disruption. We stayed in a royal garden villa with pool just amazing. Food and service excellent. Dining area is right on the beach so its perfect just watching the surf roll in. Sun seem to set just for this hotel. Its a short walk to Seminyak square for those who want to do some shopping.
We really cannot praise this hotel enough

Room Tip: clean spacious, comfortable beds. All you could want

Many thanks to Ray and his team at the Samaya, the service was fantastic andthe anticipation as to what we might need later, e.g. dinner reservation, transport to get their etc was particularly striking.

Would definately recommend.

Stayed here 3 nights at the royal courtyard 1 bedroom pool villa (311). totally worth it. Perfection from the minute we were picked up at the airport. Will continue on to Samaya Ubud and will post separately on that.

The mini van that picked us up set the tone. it had plush seats with a small TV screen in the back of the front seats, with a foldable tray with cup holder installed. With our very friendly driver, we had refreshingly scented cold towels, ice cold water (opened for us before being passed to us with a straw which was nice) and a bowl of fruit. a quick 30 min ride later, we were at Samaya semniyak.

The "main" part of the resort is under renovation (informed before point of reservation that the beach villas within the main compound were under renovation, with the royal courtyard pool villas at a separate compound just slightly across the road) but both my husband and i felt that it was in fact a plus point as the resort would have been way more crowded if the villas were open and booked! The renovation was boarded up very nicely with woven straw mats, there was some construction sounds but it was minimal. The main draw has to be the beach, with lots of sun beds and attentive staff with towels, drinks etc. We had our English afternoon tea by the beach (you can choose to have it anywhere in the resort!) and it was the best way to spend an afternoon! The beach is not a private beach and you can see lots of other holiday makers from the adjoining Legian resort. But it was not too crowded such that it was unpleasant.

The spa was absolutely amazing and one of the best massages we have had. incredibly trained staff, who asked the right questions of our preferences, without being imposing or impolite or even awkward. we were very impressed overall. we had the couples room with a breathtaking view of the sea and could hear the waves crashing on the beach throughout our massage. Only one point that we would have enjoyed having the scrub before our massage and not the other way around, although we understood that logistically it would be easier this way. Nonetheless, amazing and all should try this.

The villa itself is extremely comfortable and luxurious. Very large by even bali standards. finally a pool that we can actually swim in! the photos on the website are accurate but do not do the place justice. well manicured garden and clean pool. nice outdoor dining area and sun deck area as well. very well maintained outdoor, given the weather here.

inside, all the bells and whistles you would expect from a 5 star villa. bose sound dock for your ipod/iphone, study area for work, free wifi connection, flat screen TV facing the indoor coffee table/dining area/bed and another one for the bath, giant king size + four poster bed, walk in wardrobe, coffee press, refillable well stocked minibar with lots of water, chocolates, the usual coffee/tea, you get the idea. A nice touch was the beach bag for us to bring the essentials to the main beach area.

The bathroom deserves its own review! almost as big as the bedroom area itself, the photos are spot on. BIG 2 person jacuzzi (with said flat screen tv), variety of toiletries, a HUGE 2 person rainshower shower area, with wooden decking, twin sinks and a huge toilet area with bidet. everything spells luxury. I do agree with a previous reviewer that perhaps samaya could improve with "branded" toiletries, as even though the selection was wide (even with after sun gel, bath foam, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser etc) i felt it could have been more luxurious.

The food is generally good, we had our breakfast in villa, as well as dinner. I will review the breeze restaurant separately.

The best asset of this resort has to be its service. no matter how new or how well designed and executed a resort is, if the staff are not "with the program" it will not be successful. From our driver, to our personal butlers, to the buggy drivers, spa staff and random other staff that we meet along our buggy ways, to the security guards, everyone was incredibly friendly welcoming, smiling. its difficult not be happy here! Our butler even arranged for a massage appointment with an external place (chill reflexology - separate review) without fuss and promptly. it was clear that all staff were well trained and had lots of initiative and would think ahead of the next step and make suggestions accordingly.

All in all, an incredibly comfortable, luxurious experience here in bali. will be back for sure.

Room Tip: Our room 311 was at the "end" of the road so is more private.

I still remember walking through the door to our private villa and being completely blown away. We did the honeymoon package and they really go all out to make it a once in a lifetime experience.

Our personal butler was such a great guy (thanks Suwarda!) and when enjoying drinks at the Breeze bar, talking and getting to know Putu (our favorite bartender) was alot of fun.

From the magnificent decor, private pool, relaxing spa, great service and delicious food...I only have one thing to say about The Semaya:

Personally, this is the nicest hotel that I have ever stayed at in my life.

We got the honeymoon package for our 3 night stay at the Samaya Bali and it was exquisite! The private villa was amazing; very modern and clean, jacuzzi and 2 person shower, private pool - VERY romantic. The resort is a little spread out, but they have buggies to take you wherever you need. You have a private butler 24 hours a day so you barely have to wait for anything. Breakfast was included in the package and was delicious and can be delivered straight to your villa if you'd like.

Also included in the package was a couples massage. It was so relaxing to hear the ocean waves from outside while getting a traditional Balinese massage. We also had a romantic dinner scheduled. They set up a private table on an island in the main pool with beautiful decorations, rose petals, champagne, and an amazing meal! The service there is second to none, the beach and views are gorgeous, and there are so fabulous restaurants and shopping nearby.

This resort is on the pricey side, but worth every penny! We highly recommend it!!!

We went to the Samya Seminyak for 8 nights to start off our honeymoon and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the standard of service was impeccable and we were made to feel like the only guests staying at the resort.
We had a Courtyard Villa and the pool was more amazing than we could have imagined. Our villa was really spacious and the bathroom was particularly impressive - especially having two showers and a seperate sunken jaccuzi bath.
Being able to have breakfast at any time and anywhere (in your villa, by your pool, by the beach etc) made it so relaxed and flexible. On days when we got up late or wanted more of a brunch, there was plenty of options that were more suitable (eg the breakfast burrito -yum!) and you were encouraged to have anything you wanted from the menu. The food was always so well prepared and tasty - especially the afternoon tea - and there was plenty of choice.
The beach area was really lovely as the sunlongers are on the resort grounds but overlook the beach so you don't get so hassled by people selling sunglasses, hats etc but it still feels like you are on the beach. The waves were always really impressive but you had to be careful in the water as the currents were really strong. We hired out bodyboards which was great fun but we got quite battered in the waves. No chance of snorkling.
The sunsets are beautiful and you get the best view from the beach.
We had a meal at the Breeze restaurant included in our holiday package and the standard and presentation of the food was amazing. We were also very impressed that even though it stated 'Al a Carte' menu, everything was included in our deal.
The resort is really central and only a minutes walk from Seminyak and all the restaurants and shops. Seminyak is a really classy area but there are still lots of places to get a really nice meal for under £4 per main meal. There is a lot of choice of restarants and some quirky ones too. We particularly liked the Biku which is an antique shop as well as a restaurant and is really popular.
Basically, we felt very relaxed and spoilt by the end of our 8 nights at the Samaya and would go back there without any hesitation. Perfect honeymoon.
