Our Travel Agent (Audrey Travel) recommended the Samaya as being a special place. The reviews on Trip Advisor we also very good so we was expecting it to be amazing but almost could not believe a hotel could be this good!

Everything was amazing.

Fast tracked through the airport which was a welcome after such a long flight. Cold drinks and towels offered before we got into the transit car.

On arrival at the hotel, we were taken to our Courtyard villa and was shown around our villa. Walking through double doors to our own 2 weeks of paradise was awesome. Yes, the pictures on the web site are true but you do not 'feel' how amazing they are until you are there! Welcome drinks served in the room which was a nice touch as it was much more relaxing and enjoyable. Wifi through the resort and in room was great as we were always online with no problems. Room pool and garden were cleared each morning by a team whilst we were at breakfast. Clean bed linen daily a second room tidy and refreshment in the evenings.

First time we have had daily laundry on holiday ( 4 pieces included in the tarrif). This was such a bonus and made a huge difference whilst we were there and washing on return. Toilettes in the room were excellent quality and plentiful and included aftersun and body lotion. The room was also supplied with ant killer and mossi sprays and burners which were another added bonus. Excellent quality flip fops too ! The pool size was amazing too !

Food - amazing. Breakfast choice was incredible and so nice to be NOT buffet style. We were encouraged to have as much as we wanted and limited in any way. French toast and eggs benedict were our favourites as well as banana lassie and nasi goreng. Afternoon tea was amazing, enjoyed within the villa and on the beach front enjoying the sun set. The selection changed daily , our favorites being a mini panacotta dessert with chocolate mouse and chicken and mango rolls. Occasionally we had lunch and the club sandwich was one of the best I have eaten ( funny thing as I always judge a hotel by the quality of the club sandwich!). Dinner in Breezes was amazing with stunning service, by far the best for quality and service in Seminyak. Initially we though the prices were expensive but actually there were similar to other good restaurants in the area. Mini bar ( which included chocolate and nuts) were refreshed daily and whether we were , we were offered chilled water and towels. At night we were left a treat - not just theboring chocolates you normally get but something different every night. From cup cakes to frencg maccoons to home made truffles and dried fruit - such a treat returning to your room at night!

The Spa was excellent with truly skilled therapists. Whilst the prices were on the higher side in Seminyak ( similar to UK prices), the quality was stunning both in terms of products and skill. The relaxing drinks of chilled lime juice and hot ginger and lemon grass were unique and complemented the treatments well. I have tried many spa's in hotels whilst on holiday and generally have been disappointed with the price and the poor quality. The Spa @ Samaya is truly worth visiting! The best resort spa I have tried.

The car service taking and collecting you from local restaurants was another added benefit. Used a few times but we actually quiet liked wondering around on foot. The reports suggested we were in the quieter part of Seminyak. We were actually within minutes from the best part of Seminyak ( quick route through Seminyak Square mall ). We were in the heart on the best resaurants and shops ! However did not get any noise at our villa from the local shops bars or othwer villas. Howevr secret in Bali is to take torch with you ! Paths are nightmare and lighting is not alway good!

We were initially going to stay at the Antara. Whilst this is a delux hotel , the sun area was very small and not private with lots of local sellers around. IT was also on the edge of the public beach. We visited the hotel a few times and there certainly was not the level of service there as seen in the Samaya. ( note food was excellent specially the tapas in the SOS bar) So pleased we selected the Samaya.

What made the Samaya special was the quality of the team lead by Roy Clarke. Hospitality in Bali is always attentive but what makes the Samaya special is how the balance being truly attentive whilst being very discrete as well as being genuinely concerned about your well-being and enjoyment. Everyone from security guards to room assisstants, personelly wanted to make sure you were happy. Nothing was forced or false. It felt as if the hotel team was a family rather than individuals working together. The hotel is also of a size which means you are important and not lost within the 100's of people staying. Immediately everyone know our names and this continued through the whole visit by everyone!

The building work was well hidden and did not compromise the holiday at all. We visited the show room and the new rooms look amazing however I think we prefer the courtyard villa's as the pools are larger and with more special gardens. However the new rooms have the most amazing outdoor showers and bathrooms.

This was an amazing trip. The privacy of the villa and quality of service and food made this holiday the best ever. It was expensive but what you got in comparison to other premium hotels was far in excess to the premiun we paid. It was certainly excellent value for money!

We intend to come back next year and also spend a few days at the hotel in Ubad too. You just get so much for your money !

Well done to Roy and his family !

Room Tip: We stayed in courtyard villa 319. Right at the back of the development but pool was huge and with lo...

We stayed for 4 days at the Samaya Ubud (see separate review) and then went to spend 4 more days at the Samaya Seminyak. The Samayah Seminyak experience was fantastic and slightly better that the Ubud experience (only due to the slightly better quality of the villas)
Samaya has guest relations down pat. You are made to feel like honoured guests from the moment you arrive and until you depart.
We stayed at the Royal Courtyard Villas which are huge and very luxurious. Skinny dipping in the pool is a must and you have absolute privacy. The Courtyard Villas are across the road from the Beachside villas which are being rebuilt. Whenever we wanted to go to the breeze restaurant (which is located on the beach edge with spectacular views) we just rang for an electric buggy to pick us up and take us there. The buggy experience was fun and always prompt.
The spa is something else. We both had a Hot Stone Therapy Spa. I have had many massages (dragged into them by the wife) but this is by far the best one I have ever enjoyed.
The staff at Samaya (both Ubud and Seminyak) are amazing. They just can't do enough for you. The 24/7 butler service is simply wonderful.
One lovely touch for us is that our flight back to Adelaide left at 1:10am (in the morning!) and they happily allowed us to remain in the villa until we wanted to go to the airport. This was subject to availability of course but they bent over backwards to find a way to accomodate us. Such is the attitude at the Samaya.
We are already saving to come back for a longer stay. We had a rare chance to visit one of the first beachside villas to be completed. It looked amazing with a sunken lounge, separate bedroom and a bathroom that is bigger than any other room with an outside shower added on as well. The pool looked good as did the outside day bed. We will definitely be choosing one of these when we return. The latest report (May 2012) from the staff was that 15 villas should be completed by July - but progress has been slower than anticipated.

We stayed there 4 nights for all girls trip and The Samaya was never fail to surprise us with their services. From the staff outstanding services to the villa amazing beach view and the food was awesome!! We felt like King and Queens at the Samaya and totally spoilt and pampered. We love the private pool and jacuzzi. And most of all, they do not have any timing for breakfast, which means you can practically order your breakfast anytime.. you don't have to worry to waking up early or missing the breakfast buffet, because each breakfast was served individually and you may choose to have it sent to your room, or have it by the beach or even by the pool. They also provide 24 hour shuttle services around the Seminyak area. The Samaya was amazingly a dream come true and will definitely visit it again sometime! If you are going to Bali, you must experience The Semaya at least once and you will not go to any others again. :)

During our stay most of the villas were undergoing a major renovation which left us with a much smaller amount of residents - we enjoyed to have this amazing infrastructure to (almost) just ourselves.
We stayed at the courtyard villas which are much bigger than the beach villas (all in renovation, but we visited one) and offer total privacy with a nice garden and pool. Inside all specious and with a huge bathroom incl whirlpool. The villa also has a little pagoda in the garden where you can have your private breakfast/lunch/dinner, but don't miss the beach side restaurant!
Transport within the resort and to the beach is by electric caddies driven by the extremely helpful staff. The resort area is quite big and also beyond a street, so be prepared to walk or drive around.
The restaurant has the most amazing setting and dinners are spectacularly romantic. You are seated just by the beach under round lanterns with the sea breeze and the wave sound around. The entire pool area is right by the beach too and staff there present and helpful all day.
Thanks to Ray, the GM, for this special stay!

... and the amazing staff. Thank you so very much to everyone at the Samaya for making our recent trip to Bali one of our most memorable holidays yet. Despite the renovations (which, if you're waivering because of - rest assured they're not a problem), we had a peaceful and relaxing stay. We were most impressed by the friendly staff who did everything they could to make our time perfect. The food at Breeze was exceptional - breakfast's get harder the more you have - the last one is the hardest choice because they're all so good. It's the little things that make a big difference and no stone is left unturned here. Another reviewer made the point that it is expensive but, yes, you do get what you pay for and we felt every last dollar was justified. We're counting down the days until we can come back. Thanks again Samaya.
