“Pretty, good location, great staff.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2011

Stayed here in May for an all too brief weekend.

Staff organised pickup from the airport, as for half of our 6 strong group it was our first time in bali, this was invaluable. In retrospect, we could have got taxi's a lot cheaper, but at midnight it saved quite a bit of hassle.

we stayed in two separate accommodations, 4 of us in the family villa (two single beds upstairs and a very pretty canopy double downstairs) and 2 of us in an upstairs villa.

The hotel itself was very authentic Bali, lots of carvings and little lizards. Downstairs in our family villa we had a semi-outdoor area, complete with Koi pond and lounge chairs.
The rooms were very clean, although the bathrooms could do with an update.

Didn't use the pool much, but it was quietish and clean when we did. The whole hotel was quite laid back.
To get wifi, we had to ask at reception, it's not an automatic thing, but again this wasn't difficult.

To get to the main drag of seminyak, we had to walk 5-10 minutes down a slightly dodgy but not unpleasant street, derelict buildings, local non-touristy shops.
however, it was very close to almost everything we wanted.

The staff were absolutely lovely, so helpful and happy (i hope genuinely)

great place to base yourself if you want to check out Seminyak without paying a fortune.

stayed here one night after late arrival at airport. The staff were friendly. The room a large and the bathroom acceptable. Bed was comfortable. The hotel has a very nice pool. Breakfast was very good. It's about a 15 minute walk to the beach

2nd stayed in this hotel last week since mid last year. Arrived late in the evening about 9PM and was pleasantly welcomed in the lobby and escorted to my room. They have assigned me a room that was just finished renovation last month. The staff told me the whole block will be renovated in a few months time. The hotel as a whole still has a very traditional Balinese feel and touch with the decorations and building architecture.

Settled down behind the traditional carved wooden door, realised the room is very spacious with new LCD TV, table & wardrobe. The floor is also shiny (not sure if its new or just polished). everthing in the bath room are new too, including the bath tub (only I found the tub a bit too high). What a fresh surprise! My guest is only the door and the daybed are from the pre-renovation ???

and now the WiFi is free ! the hotel used to charge for WiFi pre-paid cards.

Staff are very helpful and friendly, although they maybe not very good with English language, give a bit more patience and their hospitality make it up.

Overall the room is well worth for the price paid.

Room Tip: Ask for the new "super deluxe" room

I stayed in this hotel earlier in the year and then again in January. I found new pool furniture, and the restaurant area looked updated and friendly. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the restaurant prices are very reasonable which is usually not the case in hotels. Having stayed in a more modern hotel up the road I found this one much more tranquil and 'Balinese'. It's good value, comfortable, clean and close to everything, though the short walk to the main road at night seems a little daunting at first until you get used to it. Seminyak has some wonderful restaurants - try "Sip" just around the corner.

Our stay at the hotel, spanning 4 nights was quite comfortable. Nothing extra-ordinary but the rooms were large and clean, and value for money given the location. the hotel staff was friendly and went out of their way to mak us comrfotable. My room phone was not working, so they trasferred me to another room immediately. Avoidable if you'll be staying alone. The ambience is a bit ancient (and the balconies are particularly scary looking in the night)..

We have stayed 10 days in the Downstairs Villa. In general - we liked it. We first paid for the first 3 nights and than extended the stay.

Pros:
+Spacious. Big bathroom. Big terrace that is private to a room.
+Friendly and responsive staff
+Breakfast was OK. Natural (fresh) juces and fruits besides the normal omlets and serial
+Nice buildings. True balisian style
Cons:
- Mosquitos.
- A bit far from the beach (15 minutes of not-so-pleasant road)
- All equipment was low-power (hair dryer, teapot). Takes a lot of time to make a cup of tea.
