As my husband and I turned up we had no idea what to expect - the last couple of trips to bali we had spoiled ourselves so we decided to take a bit of a risk and try something less than 5 star. On arrival we did get ready to move to plan B - but after settling into our standard no frills room we took a stroll to the resturant and pool. Upon relaxing, getting a nite to eat and quickly getting to know the staff we felt right at home. This hotel is very low key and comfortable place to stay - you can relax with no pretenciouness around you and let your hair down. No frills but very friendly and good for the budget. Excellent location and very close to legian and the main hub of Seminyak. We loved the freedom to move around easily and a very relaxing holiday and we will certainly return....A clean, friendly helpful hotel...

I travelled around Bali for 17 days with my husband and 74 yr old mother. We booked a "family villa" at Puri Dewa Bharata and stayed for 6 days.
The Good: The hotel and villas are on Jl Nakula (off Jl Raya Legian) and central to shopping and restaurants. The "family villa" comprise of seperate upstairs and downstairs "villas" with a private undercover courtyard with koi pond and seating area. The pool is semi-shaded for most of the day and therefore usable at all times. The staff are mostly friendly - I have to make specific mention of Dewa who made arrangements for mum to see a dentist when she broke a tooth. The hotel is also across from a couple of medical practices and at least 5 pharmacies in a 500m radius. There is a variety of good restaurants, including Extrablatt (a "German Warung") and Il Warung (an "Italian Warung") - I kid you not!!
The Bad: The "downstairs villa" (occupied by mum) was lovely and modern, with a new aircon (and remote!). The "upstairs villa" (I suppose mostly used by the kids in a family) was frankly awful. Not only does the interior decorating suck but the aircon was old and hardly effective. Even worse, no remote, you had to turn it on by hand and turn it off by hand. And that was it - no settings, just on or off. The first floor also meant that there was no respite from the traffic noises on Jl Nakula, which is CRAZY busy. It is one of the main arteries feeding to Kuta and Sanur. You wake up to traffic and fall asleep to traffic. Thank goodness for earplugs! The bathroom paint was peeling and the ceiling was covered in water marks and moldy patches. As often experienced in a homestay the bathroom is also one big "wet room", except that it was not built as such and water therefore did not drain from the toilet area. When you used the toilet you had your feet (or shoes) sitting in a centimetre of water.
The ugly: Unfortunately we had a lot of (unseasonal) rain. This would not normally bother me except that windows did not close properly, roofs were leaking, the downstairs "fancy" bathroom turned into an indoor swimming pool and the downstairs undercover seating area became a serious slipping hazard. Glossy tiles + torrential rain + leaky roofs = :(

Room Tip: If you are picky about any of the above a downstairs super deluxe may be the way to go?

If a property suggests they are a 3 star venue then that is what they are! This place always suits me, and it is worth exactly what they charge! I have been staying here for the last 10 years and so has my family and friends. This place is great for a holiday in the best location between legian and seminyak, it suits me for a quick cheap break or a transition stop between exploring other parts on Indonesia. The other guests mostly consist of Indonesian tourists and other savvy travelers who know a great find when they stay here. No big crowds, no missing out on sun lounges, no lining up behind mass consuming western tourists for breakfast! This place is like staying at an Indonesian family home where you are looked after and once introduced the staff will never forget your name.
The hotel is a of a basic nature, but that's what you are paying for. Don't be disappointed when the cost actually matches the product!!
Unbelievable location that gives you the main highway out of town just 2 mins away and legian street a 5 min walk up the street. Enjoy this place for what it is, and respect that a beautiful family are behind the scenes and often working right under your nose.

We stayed in a deluxe room, on the second floor of a three stories building. The room is quite large with marble floor through out, with nice furniture and a flat screen TV. The bed has a firm mattress, very comfortable. AC is quiet. There is a balcony with chairs and table. Wi-fi signal is available inside the room. There is no in-room safety box but a central mail box type in a separate room behind the reception desk, Morning breakfast is average with a choice of eggs and 3, 4 other hot plates aside from fruits and juices. The location however is a bit far from the boutiques, the bars and the beach. It is like a retreat in a temple surroundings. Very nice landscaping. Taxi cab fares are quite low so the location is a small drawback. We did use the convenient airport pickup service from the hotel as we arrived at night time. It costs about twice a taxi ride tab. All in all, we love this place.

Room Tip: Don't take rooms at both ends of the 3 stories building as their balcony is partially closed by...

I have stayed here previously and stayed again in January in an upstairs villa. It was OK but there were some disappointments. No hand towels - one bath towel (old and tattered) per person. The floor was lifting from constant damp. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom so everything, including the toilet, got wet. The balcony wasn't usable unless the airconditioning was off inside as the unit blew super-hot air right onto the table and chairs (good for drying clothes in the rain though). The breakfast is Ok but the toasters are sooooo slow and have missing buttons etc. Toast takes longer than any form of eggs.
The location is good and the staff is friendly enough but not on the ball. While we were there a family with older kids was at the pool and they were jumping off the walls and throwing glass bottles into the pool, and despite breaking every 'rule' on the hotel's pool notice board, nobody said anything. The other people either had to put up with their noise and annoying behaviour or leave - which most did.
To get to the main street is a bit awkward at the moment - footpath in bad repair aand building going on.
I like this hotel but don't know if I would stay again. Have been several times but this time wasn't so pleasant.

Room Tip: try a downstairs villa for a nice 'courtyard' and more comfortable lounging area than upstai...
