“Some good side with this hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2010

After reading so many negative reviews about this hotel, I actually didn't have any expectation before I go. I was in a bit rush to book this one, as it's cheap and only for two nights, I booked from internet.
I stayed at room 203 from 22-24th of Feb. The room is on the second floor, the stairs/rooms are very bad lit, expecially the room. The furniture is totally old and not suit for the room. Water drop from aircon--not much though. And a strong smell of detegent.
Well, beside all these negative points, I do found a few good sides.
First, this hotel/villa seems to me used some good building materials when it was build--the floors, stairs and used quite good stone--it did appears not fashionable any more and looks dull. The room is quite big--the biggest in the three places I stayed in this Bali trip. Even the aircon drop off water, but very quiet. Pool is very small, and will be crowd in high season. I had a look villa, seems all in good size--yet again, the furniture is old, the deco looks old too. Breakfast is acceptable.
The whole setting is very traditional Bali style. With the wall behind entry door--suppose to block devil enter the building--they can't turn corners.
The lcoation is OK, quite convenient to go to restaurants, or mini-mart, or supermarket. A few minutes you can get to the main street runs from Kuta to North side of Seminyak. A bit too far to the beach though, at least 15 mins walk-- through very bad maintained foodpath.
My view is you can only expect a average motel room quality here. Probaly in a transit situation, rather than for a long term stay (may be OK if you stay in a villa) if you are expecting a nice tropical resort/villa accomodation, you will certainly dissappointed.

Hotel is very old and almost falling down. Holes in walls, windows that do not shut, let alone lock, door handles falling off, Major problem with sewage resulting in bathroom smelling of excrement.

The position of the hotel stated Seminyak and 400 metres from the beach. The reality is that this hotel is located down a dark street that is full of empty shops and car garrages. Walking home at night is scary. The beach is more than 400 metres, it is a taxi ride away. I would not consider this area Seminyak. It is more like the outskirts of Legian. There are no restaurants and very few shops in the area.

When I booked this hotel, I specifically said that I could not stay in a room with mould due to allergies. I was assurred there would be no mould. There was mould in the 3 rooms they showed me at the beginning, one of the rooms had less mould than the others. The room did have a hole in the wall, and at night a rat was in my room.

When I complained about the rat, the hotel did immediately upgrade me to a superior room that did not have a rat, however this room did have sewerage problems.

The hotel, although of a lower end price, was not value for money. I have stayed at cheaper hotels that were much nicer.

Although the staff were lovely and friently, the hotel was terrible...I don't mind staying somewhere cheap and cheerful usually, but this place was so bad i left on my second day and found alternative accommodation....I saw quite a few rats, cats and there was a horse goanna having a leisurely swim in the pool (at least though he was enjoying himself) from the moment i arrived i got terrible hayfever, and my only tip would be if you don't get away very often, save a bit longer and stay somewhere else.

Checked the reviews on this hotel prior to departure and it seemed reasonable. Unfortunately from the time we arrived the experience deteriorated. The room we were allocated was spacious however the bathroom had a strong odour of sewerage and despite requesting some attention to the matter noone attended. The breakfast was inedible and no attempt was made to keep the flies off the food. The milk jug was filthy and the presentation of the food was poor. We did not want to complain and decided to leave and upgrade to a better hotel. For the bit extra we were delighted to move closer to the beach and have clean, modern facilities with attentive staff.
