We stayed here for one night before our flight, it served its purpose but I was glad we didn't need to stay longer. The room was shabby, the bathroom stank and the room was full of mosquitos. We managed to rectify the mozzies with a plug in thing, but it did mean a bad night's sleep worrying they might come back while we slept (no mozzie nets).

It was nice to have a pool with a bar, but the pool is really really deep all round! Nice for a morning swim though.

The place was quiet despite its location, and the garden (and caged peacocks - slightly odd!) were nice.

The staff were helpful and friendly.

Dear Lottieness

Thank you for written review about your recent stay at Taman Ayu Cottage, We are always interested to hear the comments of its customers and we are very grateful that you have written to us
We are sorry that our hotel facilities did not meet with your expectation.
The Management are well aware and have taken steps to improve the hotel facilities including the mosquitos, to put a mosquitos coils in the room and do mosquito fogging for the hotel area.
The Peacock are walking around in the garden, we still keep the cage to feeding them and protect them when is rain or if they want to be in the cage
Again thank you for your concern and We sincerely hope you will visit us again for your next trip.
Kindest Regards,

The Taman Ayu Cottages are situated in a handy position on Petitenget Road. Close to some good restaurants, DVD shops, coffee shops, boutiques mini marts etc. There is a laundry down the street (has two cages out front that house dogs) near The Deck restaurant. But we found them a quite a lot dearer than the other laundries on the east side of the hotel. The hotel is well laid out with about 4 double storey blocks spaced amongst very nice gardens and all handy to a decent size and deep swimming pool with bar and paddle pool. There are about 5 villas at the rear of the property. The staff are friendly and helpful. The super deluxe rooms are quite big and clean and offer the normal lcd tv, dvd player, fridge, wifi, tea and coffee making gear, good a/c, decent bathroom, safe and a spacious balcony.

I normally don't dine at hotel restaurants, but in this case the hotel restaurant is one of the best and cheapest around and does not charge taxes. The food was cheap and as good as any in Bali and the Soto Ayam is one of the best I have ever tasted in my 28 years visiting Bali.

The only things that were disturbed me about the hotel were:

A. The Taman Ayu have sacrificed some of their lush tropical garden to build a three storey building housing another 12 rooms. To me the hotel is just the right size as it is. As it was, there were not many guests at the hotel when we stayed there.

B.Unfortunately the Aussie yobbos have found the place. They have stuffed Kuta and Legian and now they have invaded Seminyak.

Otherwise the place was fairly quiet.

Room Tip: Worth checking out the villas at the rear.

I don't have anything really negative to say about the place, sure it was a little shabby, but my room was clean and everything was in working order. Sure the breakfast wasn't anything to brag about, but it was priced right. The biggest thing was the staff, they were very friendly and helped me solve every problem, from scooter rental to obtaining a local sim card. two thumbs up for the staff!

And the location is great!

We only stayed here for one night at around $45 (AUD). We had a big room with a balcony. The shower had hot water with really good pressure. They also provided basic toiletries. The pool was lovely with a pool bar to order drinks. Overall its not 5 star of course but you do get what you pay for, and its actually not bad. The location is also great - note that it's not on the beach exactly but not far from it either. Also want to point out that we were budget travellers and ended up in Seminyak without a plan, and this was the cheapest place we could get after walking into around 5 or 6 other hotels.

I stayed here 5 nights and would definitely stay again. It was traditional old style Bali buildings, and while a little shabby round the edges, it was great value, clean and tranquil. The position next to the entrance to the W and close to Potato Head was ideal for me. Easy walk to cafes, restaurants and the beach or short taxi to other destinations. The room was large for the price, comfortable with balcony and a bath. Breakfast fine, I recommend the fluffy pancakes!
