Me and my partner paid Urchin a visit because they got great reviews from tripadvisor and they were right. The crispy pork was out of this world. My partner ordered the fish (was it sea bass i forgot) and it was good too. The bomb was the salmon entree (again I forgot the name but the fish was diced and seasoned, placed in three tiny crispy cones). My boyfriend almost ordered a second!

The chef which was also the owner, the British Australian chef, chatte to us and he was very kind and communicative about his menu and restaurant. Open kitchen was also unique, entertaining us while waiting for the meals to arrive.

All of the guests were Westerner tourists, we were literally the only locals in the place! But if you grew up outside Indonesia and miss a little gourmet, nicely cooked, with decent price, Urchin is the place to be. Our bill came up to be around usd60 or 800k rupiahs, which for the quality of the food,was very decently priced.

Make your reservation first as it gets crowded during dinner time.

“Starters excellent, nice, modern setting ”

Salmon carpaccio and the sashimi were delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed the crispy sea bass and the snapper, although it was noted the dishes were dominated by one flavour (i.e. Snapper with carrot, tuna with beetroot).

Nice to watch the chefs in action in the kitchen, which is the centrepiece of the restaurant.

“Awesome Urchin”

Excellent experience at Urchin. Nice decor and open kitchen. Original food using the best ingredients and cooked to perfection I had the crispy snapper with carrots and almonds which offers unique flavors! Ended my dinner with buttermilk chiboust with pineapple sorbet. surprisingly light and fresh!
Their prices are reasonable for the quality of food you get. To be highly recommended

“Great surprise”

Last minute walk in accommodated by seats at the bar...little did we realize that it was a perfect perch to watch the 5 chefs do their magic in perfect harmony. Great teamwork, near flawless execution, and great dishes led to a an amazing experience. Highly recommend!

“Just OK”

This was one of the new restaurants we picked to try on this trip. It was our first restaurant and we were a little underwhelmed. be aware that the kitchen is part of the restaurant, actually its in the area with you.
Entrée was fantastic. Roasted scallops, cauliflower, kipfler, chicken jus were fantastic. A simply brilliant start. My wife had the Grilled Sea Bass, white bean cassoulet, speck, jus gras for her main and found it a bit plain. I had the Pork Belly and when it arrived at the table it looked awesome. Unfortunately it was terrible. Nice crackling on top of fat. Nothing else, no meat, just fat. We finished of with the Passion fruit soufflé, passion fruit sauce which was very nice, but the damage had been done. A coupe of glasses of the 2012 rolf binder chardonnay - barossa, Australia helped a little, but I certainly won't return. We did tell the hostess about the Pork, but no real response. All in all just OK.
