“Great place for a drink and small appetizers”
Reviewed 7 July 2014 via mobile

Sushi was excellent and the setting is fantastic. Can't write much for the food as we only got a drink and some small nibbles but the atmosphere is A+

“The bread!”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

I wish we could split the ratings into half stars as I would give this restaurant a 4.5.

Meanwhile, this place serves the best, or close to the very best bread in Bali. Homemade by Chef Steve.

We were a party of seven, entrees, main and desserts. I ordered the grilled squid as did another friend. When it arrived it was dressed in squid ink, which kind of freaked my friend out as she had never had it. Chef Steve was more than willing to return it and make a plain grilled squid for her, which is VERY accommodating for any restaurant. However she tried it, ended up eating all of it, and enjoying it to the max. Perhaps the menu should specify the ink so as not to surprise some squeamish diners. But anyway, everyone loved their various entrees. The fish main courses were superb, and the three gnocchi eaters were in heaven. The dessert souffle was rated at a five, and I had the coconut/coffee/sago with the same rating. The only one that disappointed was the watermelon "foam". Flavor was there but was not stomach satisfying. But each to their own taste

The interior space is really cool and fun, open kitchen and plating area is pretty neat. Pretty nice looking bar area if you just wanted to have a drink or two. Service was discreet and attentive. Very hard to ind faults with this restaurant and will be back again.

“Pricey but good meal in a vibrant, modern restaurant”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

This place is not easily found, with other reviewers noting problems finding it. It is behind the Samaya, next to "Sea Circus", which our taxi driver did know and is marked on Google Maps. We arrived without reservation for dinner about 6.30 and were accommodated without a problem.
Two for dinner, with 3 glasses of reasonably priced wine, a beer and a bottle of water - around A$120. Given the contribution of the drinks, and the quality of food, this was a reasonable deal. The water.... I asked if they had a large Aqua (thinking of the largest selling, most popular and ubiquitous water in Bali/ Indonesia). They did, but it was an Italian "Acqua" rather than the run of the mill straightforward version - this felt like a bit of a gouge - especially when the wait staff were pouring complementary water from jugs. This unfortunate rip-off was offset by the complimentary bread, which was a truly excellent sourdough. We had scallops and a sushi entree and Snapper fillet and Tuna for main. The Scallops were a winner, and the sushi had yummy house pickled young ginger (not the artificially coloured pink stuff) and I was told it was their own wasabi. No ill health to report from the raw fish (earlier poor review). The Tuna main seemed overcooked and a bit dry (photo). All the food appeared to be beautifully fresh, as did the veg - the best mini potatoes tossed in a whipped butter(?), but the beans were bland. Much of the meal seemed to lack a bit of flavour punch, but the quality of ingredients were allowed to stand up for itself. The restaurant vibe is good with the open plan restaurant around the kitchen providing just enough theatre without being a distraction or too noisy. Staff were all charming and professional.

“Urchin one of Bali's top ten.”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

We went there last night and definitely not disappointed. The food was sensational, loved the open kitchen look. Could see their preparation and the plating of the food and all done with perfect professionalism. Beautiful fresh produce used for the dishes be it pork, meat, fish the seafood or the fabulous risotto not too mention the desserts OMG they were out of this world.
We will be back as this is now one of our favourites in Bali.
