We stayed in the West Villa in early July with our two children aged 15 and 8. Alam Warna is not the easiest place to find but once there you enter an oasis which is far removed from the bustle of the Kuta/Legian/Seminyak strip.
The West Villa has a 20m pool, 2 double bedrooms with en-suite, hot tub / jacuzzi, open plan kitchen / dining / lounge with a waterwall and Koi pond. All truly wonderful. I could add free wi-fi / satellite TV / fridge full of Bintang etc. but you get the picture that Alam Warna had covered most bases.
The staff are just so attentive and professional. Nothing was too much for them, from getting string for my son's kite to driving us to quiet beaches. Breakfasts were served in your villa at your convenience and the fruit, juice, nasi goreng and coffee were great. We even had 6 geckos on site to deal with the mosquitoes!
The only downside is probably that Alam Warna is located in Seminyak, which after seeing other parts of Bali is rather westernised, commercial and busy. Seminyak beach is crawling with hawkers who really don't understand 'no thank you' however the surf is incredible. The local restaurants are very good particularly 'sate bali' but stay away from ku de Ta and the Living Room unless you are a wannabe from St Tropez or a western colonialist.More
