“Honeymoon at the Anantara”
Reviewed 27 September 2011

What can I say?? The Anantara was absolutely perfect, we had no complaints whatsoever, the staff and standards were second to none and we would jump at the chance of going back. Check the photos of the suite out.

On arrival we were welcomed in reception by the lovely (very attractive!) reception staff and shown up to our suite.
The suite was soooooo amazing, decorated in a contemporary style but with Indonesian touches dotted around. Rose petals on the bed and in the tubs, chocolates and wine waiting for us.. all really nice touches.

There was a seperate dressing room, huge bathroom with a fantastic tub (free bath salts and lovely bath bubbles) and a walk in shower with a 'rain' roof as well as conventional shower. Double sinks and boxes at each for the male and female with toothbrush, toothpaste, creams etc in it.
There was great livingroom area with seating and a huge plasma, decent channels too.

The view was amazing - we chose a sea view on a high floor which was definitely the best option. We had the option of a room with a semi-private pool but we could see these rooms on the way up the stair (you can actually look down into these 'private' pools and they really dont seem private at all and you would have to be on ground level which in our opinion wasn't great)
The hotel has its own beach and gorgeous pool area. The sea is pretty rough so we never really went on the beach, but the pool area was really lovely and the staff exceptional.

Every time we asked for anything, room service, help with the air con and help with booking trips, it was dealt with speedily and with a smile.

The food was first rate, the wine and cocktails fantastic and again i'll say that the staff in the hotel were so friendly and personable - they really made the holiday for us. The same goes for the local people in Seminyak.

The cute touches from the staff were as follows;

A free couples massage with champagne, fruit chocolate fondue and a rose petal bath afterwards (massages in the hotel are amazing)

A plaque with our wedding date and names on it

Chocolates every day

Keepsake stones

Room Tip: I would choose an ocean view on a high floor. The 'semi private pool' rooms do not look good...

The best view in Seminyak – great cocktails – fantastic music: when I am in Bali I watch the sunset from SOS Supper Club on the rooftop of the Anantara hotel.

There is no other place on this beautiful stretch of Seminyak beach that offers such vistas. I love the music, I love the drinks and you should try the snacks… WOW.

The more substantial food is also great – especially the steaks! Staff remembers your name after a couple of visits and they organize the kind of parties that your mother always warned you about – however – everything in style.

To me SOS Supper Club is the perfect place to get ready for dinner and to find the inspiration for the upcoming nightly mayhem that South Bali is so famous for...

If live is a beach – SOS Supper Club is my bar to go with it ;)

The only downturn: parking is scarce so better take a taxi or motorbike.

A fantastic two night stay in the Anantara - fantastic rooms, great air-con, beach-front property (the noise of the sea take some getting used to!). Staff fantastic, manager came down to introduce himself as we'd contacted him from the UK prior to visiting and threw in a complimentary bottle of sparking wine with our meal on the second night.

When we arrived on the first night, we were a little thrown by the roof top bar which was crammed with what appeared to be Russian gangsters! However, turned out it was a Russian DJ night, and the following night there was a much nicer crowd. We ate on the roof the second night and the food, service etc was lovely.

No complaints about the noise from the bar- we were just one floor down from the roof top bar and heard nothing - sound proofing is apparently doing is job. It is quite pricey and there's not much in the way of a pool, but then again you're right on the beach. Room was very well equipped, contemporary and all mod cons - Nespresso coffee machine, Bose (I think) sound system, plasma television etc. Highlight was jacuzzi out on the balcony overlooking the sea - brilliant!

Service and staff were excellent - we found our camera charger died on our second day, a nightmare for us, as we're keen photographers, had only packed one charger as we were trying to travel light and had three weeks in Bali ahead of us. The staff rang around various shops in Bali and arranged a car so that we could go and pick one up - top service.

Overall - a lovely two night stay, would normally rave about the place but, having also stayed at Komaneka and The Samaya, we were somewhat spoiled. A million times nicer than the likes of the Bali Hyatt, and definitely worth a stay or, at the very least, dinner or drinks on the rooftop bar. Only negative comment is that if you want a quiet drink, you're a bit stuck as there appears live DJs every night - perhaps they could also serve drinks on the ground floor around the pool in the evening?

Room Tip: High beach-front rooms have lovely views over the beach and no need to be worried about the noise fr...

Stayed here for 5 nights, location was great, staff were extremely helpful and polite, honeymoon extras were lovely too! We stayed in an ocean suite and couldn't have been happier with the facilities and space in our suite- it was huge!
Breakfast buffet was great, being vegetarians there was enough variety to choose from, the presentation of the food ordered from the A la Carte menu was super.
There are plenty of restaurants in the area- around 10minute walk.
We had a great time and would definitely recommend to other honeymooners!

This hotel is unbelievable!! Beautiful, friendly staff.... they even call you by your last name... ALL the staff members.Talk about personalization. Breakfast food is absolutely delicious... i definitely recommend staying here.

One note: be careful on the cabs they use there. Its fairly expensive... you can get a personal driver for 150 Rupiah for 5 hours (about $17). Most of the cabs there charge DOUBLE.

Check out restaurants Ku da ta and Metis in Seminyak... delicious.

Lounge in the Anantara is awesome... you can get great sunset views.

It was great meeting you and your staff during our stay at the Anantara Bali last week. We have now arrived back home in Perth after a most enjoyable holiday.

Having travelled extensively around the world, my wife and I would like to provide you with some feedback from our recent visit.

The staff at the resort were most welcoming and accommodating throughout our entire visit. It is true to say that they went out of their way to ensure that everything and anything was perfect for our stay. The staff demeanour and general outlook was that they enjoyed their job, were well-trained and well equipped to deal with any query or request. On numerous occasions the staff presented themselves to us, checking on our comfort, our meals, the rooms and informing us of the days activities in the various restaurants. We cannot speak highly enough of the poolside staff who looked after us and all the guests on the sun lounges, constantly assisting in whatever way the could – and always with a smile. In all the staff were smart dressed and presented well. The staff are an absolute asset to the resort.

The room as was presented by Florie – WOW. Very well appointed, loved the layout and very spacious inside. It was a delight to come back to our rooms each evening and find the notes left behind by the room staff – a very nice touch. In all, some of the nicest and well presented and comfortable rooms we have been in.

Reception and Concierge staff were very informative and helpful with booking of restaurants and entertainment.

The food in all restaurants was as expected – superb. In particular, the tapas in the SOS bar are quite something. Expensive way to dine, but they were so delightful we couldn’t help ourselves. Evening cocktails and nibbles in the bars was delightful and set the scene for a most enjoyable evening.

A few nice things that we haven’t seen elsewhere:

· Wednesday Managers meet on the deck with cocktails. Great way to meet the Managers and a few other guests.

· Cocktail samplers at the poolside. Always welcomed and very well received. Sometimes it’s these little things that make the difference.

· Cooked breakfast in lieu of buffet style. It’s too easy to lay out a buffet and let the guests do their own thing. A good selection a-la-carte menu of cooked breakfast certainly ticks boxes for me.

In all, for our first trip to Bali, this has set a very high standard for us. We will be back, and we will be staying at the Anantara again. Thank you very much to you and your staff for making our stay, a truly memorable occasion.
